ammo question

Ran into a great deal on tulammo in .40 s&w. No experience with with this brand. All I want to do is take it to the range. But at ten bucks a box I'm worried it is gonna jam a lot. Never used steel case either.

Any one with experience shooting steel case or in particular tulammo .40 s&w your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time

I won't shoot any steel case ammo in my guns. I believe steel case to be hard on extractors. The only exception is a 1911.

I have shot several thousand rounds of steel case ammo in a 1911 and I broke the extractor. Put a new extractor in and tuned it. Ten minutes later I was up and running again.

Since I don't know how to replace an extractor in any of my other guns I stay away from steel case even if it is cheap.

I had a 1/2 box along with some other .40 ammo purchased from a friend. I had several FTF in my M610 revolver, I think the primers were set too deep?? I ran it through my M&P 40 without an issue. That said I probably won't buy any more.

Used 2 boxes in my m&p 40 full size. No problem. But is was new from walmart. Is your deal stuff new or old?

it less than two months old. Purchased by a friend from walmart in the first part of September. then he sold the only 40 he had. no he offered them to me at a discount.

I should probably mention it will be shot from a sd40ve. that has around 800 rounds downrange

I've shot a ton of Tulammo in 40 with my Shield. No problems except my gun club makes me separate it from the brass.

Try it and see. Some guns like it , some don't. The US Govt ammo plants made .45 ACP (and .30 carbine) ammo with steel cases during the later days of WWII , though much of it went to Allies for use in US provided Thompsons and Grease Guns.

One of my 1911A1's has a chrome-lined barrel and shoots Wolf just fine.

The newer Poly-powder coated stuff has a better rep than the old fashioned lacquer painted.

Steel cases seem to work better in slightly tapered pistol cases like the 9mmP than true straight wall cases like .40 S&W and .45 ACP.

The keen observer will also notice that the Russian rifle rounds have more body taper as well.

Haven't shot it in the 40 cal but have shot many rounds of 45acp without any problems. I do believe that steel cases are tougher on ejector rods though. As far as firing and ejecting they have always worked fine for me.

I have never had a problem with .40 Tula feeding, but it sure smells bad.
