I went into a local Academy store today solely to buy a hunting license but I walked through the ammunition section where I saw a solitary box of .35 Whelen hunting ammunition which I snatched off the shelf immediately (it's death on feral hogs so I never want to run out) and then I looked further and there were dozens of boxes of Winchester 5.56 green tip target ammunition available and a somewhat lesser number of 7.62 x 39 which I only noticed because they were right next to the .223.

The Winchester 5.56 was priced at around ten dollars so that's 50 cents a round.

Then, as an aside because this was mostly intended to let folks know about the ammunition, I walked over to the gun counter and they were certainly not bereft of handguns. But they were not overloaded, either. There was probably a couple of dozen, including SIG's new compact 9mm, several S&W pistols in varying "sizes", a couple of small revolvers, and some Tauri in varying sizes as well. Looked like MSRP, more or less, on all of them.

On the back wall there some hunting rifles and shotguns and I only saw one AR-platform rifle.

So, if you're in Dallas, now you know. ;)

Parallel note - Lucky Gunner has ammunition, too. Or did have. I bought a couple of boxes of 9mm and .45 ACP just last week. Just because.

I forgot until the ammo showed up yesterday.

Academy stores around here are the same. They get some ammo in occasionally but if you are not there when the doors open you're out of luck.
I use Ammoseek.com to look for online sales and have found good deals but it sells out FAST.

Rural King in Front Royal Va. this morning had .38Spl. Federal 158 for 18.97/box 50..Limit (2) I grabbed both. A deal I do feel.. And the previous morning I got (2) boxes of 9mm 115 gr. ..Ammo Inc. (hollow point) but only (40 rounds total) for $26.00 or $13.00 a box of 20.

By the way is Ammo,Inc. any good? Thanks.

I've fired a box of Ammo, Inc Defense rds in .45 and had no issues.

I just received 500rd of Hornady 55gr SP 223 from MW, yesterday. $0.66rd plus tax & sh.... or just under $0.75rd total. Not as good as in the past, but not bad online. No complaints here. ;)

Went to a 'Black Friday' sale at Academy in New Bern, NC yesterday.
They had listed a pretty good deal on non-tox 12 ga. waterfowl shells, so paid for a couple flats of that online before leaving home.

Got there, not overly busy. Long guns, about 1/2 their normal stock.
Lots of poly-pistols.
And - for ammo, literally all they had was shotshells, and mostly waterfowl class. Think I saw 3 boxes of .350 Legend' ammo. That was it.

Walked around, saw little else I needed, picked up my ordered ammo and left.

Saw the Rural King ad in the Thursday edition of the Roanoke Times advertising Black Friday deals on Firearms and ammo. Never heard of the store before that. The closest one to me is in Radford about an hour away. Didn't make the trip.

Good deal on the .38 special!
