Just got back from my local Cabelas and thought I would do an ammo report. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the shelves were very well stocked in all calibers including .22, .380, 9 mm, 40 cal., .223, 5.56 etc.

They had a ton of Herter's Select (not familiar with this brand) handgun ammo in stock and on sale. They had lots of Blazer 500 round bricks of .22 ammo for $28. They had lots of CCI 100 round .22 SV sleeves at $9. They had lots of Federal American Eagle Ammunition 5.56x45mm NATO 55 Grain XM193 Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail on sale for $7.50. I think this is "the good stuff" and I have not bought any in a while, but I thought the price was very good. I also saw the bulk white box Winchester ammo in all calibers.

I realize that the prices on .22 aren't pre- Sandy Hook, but it is nice to see the shelves full and prices pretty reasonable.:)

Thanks for the report - always good to hear some positive news. As fo Herter's Select, my understanding is that it is manufactured for Cabelas by Sellier and Bellot. Definitely not the old Herter's of Waseca Minnesota that some of us old-timers recall!

I thought that I would add that I bought 2 sleeves of CCI Shotshells in 38/357. I had looked for these in the past and could never find them. Had forgot about them until I happened to see them on the shelf.:D

Not that I need it, but was in Walmart yesterday, and they had Federal 9mm at $9.97 a box. (may not be in all areas) I used to shoot so many of these. Make my own now. Bob

Thats a good price. Usually at Wm here I see it for about fourteen a box,may be cheaper by now.

It's the Federal Aluminum Case, which if you don't reload works just fine.

Guess I'm bad. Did not know that aluminum case Federal were made. Box looks identical. $10 is still a good price. I load, and have plenty of brass, & ammo. Bob
