WalMart reportedly has stopped selling ammunition ahead of the Obama administration’s anticipated gun control recommendations to Congress -- and uncertainty over what new laws may be coming.

According to the Investment Watch blog, WalMart Corporation will no longer place new ammunition orders pending “the upcoming decision on the Second Amendment.”

A customer stood with a WalMart employee as a call was made to the corporate office.

WalMart headquarters told the employee the following:

“As of right now WalMart is not going to be making any new orders of ammo because of the upcoming decision on the Second Amendment.  As of right now we are unsure of what new legislation might be coming, and because of this, we are suspending new orders.

“We will continue to sell what is already in stock in stores and at our distribution centers, but any new orders will not be shipped until the issue is resolved.”

Sorry.... I find that very hard to believe.

Audio of the call to corporate

They basically said..

“we have to wait for the President to revise the new law for the Federal Gun Control Act. Then we will change our policy”.

you can call Wal Mart headquarters at 1-800-925-6278 for yourself and ask. After the answer press 2 then 1 then 1 again and wait to talk to a rep.

The Chicago way. Walmart meets with O last week, he leans on them and they hold off selling ammo. The old "offer you can't refuse".

Actually, it makes good sense from a business POV. Why should Walmart commit itself to perhaps millions of dollars worth of ammo from the ammo companies, only to find that it could not sell the ammo because the law/regulations had changed, and they are then stuck with ammo they cannnot sell. American businesses are currently sitting on billions of dollars in capital, simply because they don't know what the administration is going to do six months or a year down the road.

Is this within the last day? My local walmart still gets a few boxes every few days.

Do not underestimate the efficiency of Walmart's supply chain model. I worked in IT for a large textile manufacturer, and was involved with the applications behind the retail supply replenishment. Even twenty years ago, Walmart was on the bleeding edge of supply chain management. They do not keep much inventory sitting in their own warehouses.

I can see the Walmart meeting with the current administration was productive. My theory was Obumer made a back room deal with Walmart. Basically said..If you make a showing and halt ammo sales. I'll get rid of private sales for you. Who wins? Walmart.

They don't have any ammo in stock anyway, but from a business perspective I can see their point. They don't want to get stuck with product they can't sell.

If it comes out that this is the result of a "deal with the devil" from last week's meeting with obama, at that point, I'd be the first to say screw WalMart and take my business elsewhere.

No matter what Walmart does with ammo I will still have to shop there. In our little town there is literally no where else to shop for clothing, electronics etc. There is a grocery store and the rest of our shopping is art galleries and tourist stuff. Oh yea, boat dealers and a fishing tackle store. Our walmart never carries much ammo anyway, and no firearms whatsoever. I guess you could say the manager is not a second amendment fan.
