Ammo Thread Scores

Blazers back at Big C for those linked up

No reason for that attitude, there's been plenty available at decent prices lately. I've yet to pay more than 8 cents/round for any of my .22 and most of it was 5-6 even in this market. Sure it's more than it used to be but it's not ridiculous.

My issue is that I'm in Illinois. I am forced to call orders in rather than purchase on line. That delay makes scoring ammo impossible. It's always out of stock before I can snag any. I'm not complaining, I'm just complaining! It's crazy that it locally sells for 50¢ per round but I can buy 5.56 for 40¢ a round. What? It's too bad because the 15-22 is an awesome gun but I simply can't feed it.

Why do you have to call in orders in Illinois?

That isn't an ammo availability problem... There are a couple ways to solve that issue though. :D

Why do you have to call in orders in Illinois?

Because they have to have a FOID card to purchase firearms and ammo.

If I were an online retailer, I wouldn't even sell to Illinois residence...to much hassle when I can sell to other states without the road block.

If you are close to a Cabela's you can do in store pickup. I'm in Illinois and Cabela's corporate contacted me to get a copy of my foid card and DL. I order mine online. Never had a problem. I'm a little over an hour away from my Cabela's.

Lately when I go to that page and click on a link for the big C a page comes up that all the printing is in red and the price at the top of the page says something like 8000 bucks and lists a ton of ammo that has been purchased, how can you order from that page.:confused:

Just hit the checkout. It will just put what is available in your cart. If it puts something you don't want just hit remove. Right now it only Blazers showing up.

Yup, it seems scary at first to be "ordering" thousands of dollars of ammo but in the end, only the instock stuff makes it to the cart.

Been able to order 6 bricks (3000 rounds) of Remington Golden bullets, Blazers and Win M-22 in the past month.

Thanks for the links posted.

I second that...I've bought thousands of rounds this month using the Checkout Method :)

This is exactly what I tried. They had my stuff on file but claim it's sold out when I call. I complained to a supervisor on the phone and claimed they were discriminating against me because I live in Illinois. After enough complaining, they magically found some rounds in stock despite arguing they were out of stock for 1/2 hour. Odd.

Erick stated he orders online... not calling them. Have you tried simply placing an order online and wait to see what happens? Maybe they would contact you via email and ask for copies of your FOID?

I know when I first saw that, I don't think I will live long enough to shoot all that.:D

In reality, only 1000 of it was for me.

I have a friend who can't do internet ordering. The other two thousand are for his teenage grand daughters and the 10/22 Ruger Rifles he bought for them....

I went thru 1200 rounds of .22lr in my trips to the range back in January. :D

The link is still good..............sometimes.

I've been able to order Blazers from Cabela's for three days in a row now. It has become a ritual--feed the dogs, let them out, and see if I can find something from Cabela's.

This morning it indicated that there was nothing in stock from the cart link. I just tried it (about 5:30 p.m.) and it let me order a box of Blazers.

An additional note for the .17 WSM shooters--Cabela's has it on a semi-regular basis now for $16.99/ 50 rounds. Not cheap but it is about a third of what it was two months ago.

I have followed this forum for about 1 year and have found it a great place for information and ammo. Other than a few small boxes locally this has been my only source for 22lr. I have successfully secured enough ammo, at a reasonable price, for my family to enjoy one of our favorite pastimes for the summer and all of the credit goes to the very selfless individuals that have taken the time to help those less fortunate and less diligent in procuring their own. THANK YOU!

The reason for lurking so long without posting is I haven't felt that any contribution I could make would benefit anyone. Today after checking the available thread I felt it necessary to thank those that have helped my family & I and to add my input. I would also like to thank the administration for their patience with those that simply cannot follow the rules. Please don't "do away" with the thread because a few "noobs" try to ruin it for everyone. Especially those that break the rules chastising the others that break the rules first.

I also understand why some would want to lock the thread to non-members. My selfish urges say "go ahead" as I am now a member, but the reality is I, and several others, have benefited greatly from the current way the thread is being handled. My children don't understand this now, but they (and I) owe you big time for allowing my wife and I to raise them in the way we find appropriate even considering the current "climate."

The other reason for this post is as a response to a recent post asking to eliminate posts for expensive ammo. PLEASE DON'T! It's nice to at least have the option to buy something when the reserve runs dry. Also, much of the ammo is a high quality match grade product that works great for hunting and competitions. Please allow the end user to choose what they are willing to pay regardless if a few forum members think it's too expensive.

And, one last sincere thanks to all that have helped.

Argh! Cabela's squashed the links again...takes me to the error page.

But thanks to those who posted about the Blazers yesterday... I ordered a box. :D

Today was a good day! All from the past week or two from the Big C...
