Buy something cheap like Aguila and have at it.
The Russian ammo is fine. If you believed all of the hate stories by the "buy American" crowd, and the overpriced ammo sellers angry at being undercut by the local Wal-mart....
You have to begin asking why it is still being imported if it's so horrible, and why Wal-mart still sells it. Also, ask why we shot so much steel cased in WWII.
One of the favorite anti-stories about the steel-cased ammo is about how it will cause your extractor to go bad prematurely. Then I read from a website that actually tested this, and how many thousands of rounds you need to put through a gun before you'd notice a difference.... then that the extractor for that gun cost something like $10.
And if the above poster had problems with the round seizing in the barrel, then the problem is the gun, or perhaps, the maintenance of it.
If your gun won't feed steel-cased ammo, then I'd be uncomfortable with that gun for SD. Go ahead and use brass/nickle if they work better. The are more slick, but again, if you've got problems with that gun feeding steel cased ammo, then it's not a reliable SD firearm, in my book.
