I just got one of the Grabagun blowout M&P10 rifles. I have already purchased a few boxes of Russian steel case ammo, along with some ADI Outback 168 grain match ammo.

I don't plan to blow through a lot of ammunition but I do want to see how the cheap steel case works with the rifle.

I am now looking at Hornady, Black Hills, and Federal GMM because I want to find a very high quality target load that the rifle likes. I need your opinions on loads that work best with your M&P10, so I have a good starting point.

Thanks for your help.

Hornady, Black Hills, and Federal Match King are all very good rounds but not cheap. If you are looking for precision shooting and aren't looking to reload, they are some of the best choices.

If you are just looking for fun at the range, you might want to look at something cheaper like PMC or Lake City ammo. Your groups will open up with that stuff but it is less of a whack on your wallet.

I'm looking for precision shooting ammunition that has worked well with others' M&P10 rifles.

I've shot Hornady and Federal Match King with good results but I'm still fine tuning my rifle, so I don't have good numbers to give yet.

ADI Outback 168 grain is pretty good in mine. ADI Outback165 gr. game king is real good.

For plinking lake city 149 gr xm80 will produce 2 inch groups all day but be advised its a magnetic round but i would use that before russian stuff. Just my opinion.

Mine will eat anything. For plinking I use tula 308 or zqi 7.62x51, both avg around 2-3" @ 100yd. Pretty much all the 147-155g stuff shoots the same. Favorite load so far is Hornady A-max 168g, .75" 5 shot group at 100yd w/stock rifle and 3-9 scope. Almost 3000rd through my mp10 with zero malfunctions and no decrease in accuracy. Let us know how that outback stuff shoots.

I tried nearly all the .308/7.62(including match ammo) I could find in mine and surprisingly it seems to like the Prvi Partizan 200rd battle pack stuff the best.

My M&P 10 loves Nosler trophy grade 165 grain ballistic tips.

1/2" - 5 shot groups @ 100 yards.

For accurate ammo without spending a lot of $$, I have had very good luck in a variety of 7.62 rifles using the Prvi (PPU) 7.62 match ammo. It does as well as the Federal Gold Medal in most of my rifles, and is usually seven or eight dollars cheaper a box. It can be found online with a little searching, and is a lot more consistent and accurate than the usual military ball ammo stuff for not much more $$

What would be the best deer hunting 168gr round? I have heard many brands and many types (e.g. sp-bt, sst, sps, sp).

I would go with something that has a soft tip for best expansion. Either a semi jacketed bullet or something with a polymer ballistic tip.

The Hornady Superformance 165gr SST is very accurate out of my M&P10. The Australian Outback 165gr Sierra Game King sounds good too. Cheaper as well.

I have no problems with the PPU 168gr Match at all. It cycles perfectly and holds decent groups.

Likewise on the PPU. The only time PPU didn't eject for me was when my brass catcher (soft caldwell jam-o-matic type) was in the way.
