Found a nice 13-3 3" this past weekend and this ammo came with it, along with a Bucheimer Concealer holster. The story was, the gun and ammo was gifted by a retired FBI agent several years ago and just wasn't shot much by the seller. Does the ammo appear to be period correct for late 80's or early 90's?

Yes that is period ammo. In fact that box of hydra shok .38 was their last issued round before autos. the 3 inch 13-3 was my first hand gun back in 93. Some of our retire FBI members will be along shortly to tell you more.

PS I'll buy the Bucheimer and hydra shoks offa ya :)

Joey,
Is that Hydroshok .38+P+ good ammo? I have a couple boxes that I picked up in trade a few years back. It's newer though, from the mid 90's.

Although I'm a lefty, I have been looking for the accessories used by the FBI with the M13 3". I missed out on the Concealer last year on GB but got the ammo pouch from a retired agent. This is the pic he sent for authenticity. Sorry, but keeping the holster and ammo.:)

Yes and in it's day the Hydro-Shock was the premium ammo to carry. Notice it says " for law enforcement use only" still not a bad choice even today.

I bought two boxes of the LEO 50rd Hydra-Shok +P+ a year or two ago.

Long story short, the recoil felt about the same between the regular +P and the +P+ loads. So I went ahead and tested a cylinder full of +P+ in my '68 Detective Special. It shot them fine and pretty much felt like a regular +P. A couple of weeks ago I had the chrony out and took a cylinder worth of the +P+ in order to test it.

I was disappointed with the velocity, as all 6rds were only averaging about 950fps out of my 2.5" Python.

Now, shooting them in a 357mag will probably knock some velocity off and the shorter barrel will help that too. They would probably be great out of a 38spl with a 3" or longer barrel, but I guess 950fps isn't too bad. I just expected more from them.

My homebrew 140gr XTP over 15gr 2400 that clocks 1100fps is what I keep in the magnum. Maybe eventually I will sell the remaining Hydra-Shoks, as I don't carry 38spl in a magnum and they are a little too stout for my Detective.

I have a Bucheimer Federal Man shown holding my Mod 36-2". The model number is either 280 or 230, because of the stitching I can't tell which.

I'd shoot the wadcutters and the Hydra Shok's for practice. The rest is all really good stuff. Btw, the Hydra Shoks are terrible and do not expand from realistic barrel lengths.
