The other day I was using some Winchester 38 special 130 grain target rounds in my Rossi M885 and noticed I couldn't eject my rounds using my ejector rod. I had to manually extract them using a knife until I found my culprit really stuck in there. I experienced my first case rupture. I'm not too experienced with non-government issued ammunition, and this malfunction was 1/150 or so rounds. Has anyone had any frequent problems with Winchester target ammo? Any interesting malfunctions you've experienced lately?

I've never had a case rupture with fresh Winchester factory ammo, so I would consider your event rare.

The only factory ammo I have ever had issue with was a bad run of primers in some Federal steel goose loads.

Case rupture, not too out of the ordinary. Anymore, Winchester ammo is really çř@ppŷ ammo. I've stopped buying that trash as I've had enough of DUDs, impropery sized cases, mixed headstamps, folded case mouths, and etc.
...and don't get me started on their rimfire offerings.

There was a recall several years ago on Win 130gr .38SPL. Possibly your ammo is part of that recall?

It happens. The longitudinal split is good, at least the case did not split in half,,,

Only 1 time did this happen to me, i was using the REMINGTON 130 fmj

The problem is the Rossi (POS JMHO). It is likely the chambers are oversized.

I have been shooting 60+ years and my perspective as a retired lawman. Get quality firearms. Texas Rangers, LAPD or NYPD never approved of a Rossi.

Got it from a deceased family member. 500 rounds in now, thats my only problem and I’m chalking it up to bad ammo. To each their own big dog.

On the Police Department I shot PPC Competition and we could shoot 480 rounds in a day. Shooting that much you needed a quality revolver. So on the Firing Line you see S&W and Colt.

Off brand revolvers are for the nightstand when the owner hears a scary noise at oh dark thirty in the morning.

If you plan on making shooting a hobby get a quality used S&W revolver and consider reloading your own ammunition. Reloading takes your skills to a higher level because you will shoot more.

I recently had problems with a Winchester 250th Anniversary 200 round bulk pack. On 3 separate range trips I shot through the 200 rounds and had 11 or 12 dud primers. Tried to fire through multiple 9mm guns but those bad rounds would not fire.

Which 9mm pistols?

Because even a Glock is not 100% reliable after bubba worked on it. A side note, the Police Department I retired from buys Winchester White Box ammunition by the truck load for practice and training. Ranger for on and off duty carry.

Unfortunately, me being one of them, people have had issues with their loaded rounds primers not igniting. I haven’t had any case ruptures.

Have learned Not to use any Win. or Rem. ammo. Very picky as do not want problems and reloading seems the BEST.

Ruger SR9, Max 9 and eventually even tried them in a Hi Point carbine. Multiple good strikes on primers but no bang. Everything else including other lots of Winchester ammo goes bang in these guns.

Tip: A reason why Police Departments went to Beretta and Glock pistols since they are 100% reliable for the last 40 years.

Your pistola is the rossi clone of the jframe or snubby model 10 type revolver. Its not exactly a competition gun. But if it works, and you take care of it, its a nice friend in the pocket for those moments the neighbors "friendly" pitbull wants to chew on your leg.

But its not the BESTEST gun. And also everyone remembers this,

the people telling you to get a smith or a glock, for "better quality" are bitching in this thread and in others about having huge ammo failures.
