Amsoil?

I discovered it 10 years ago for use in my Harley Davidson motorcycle. I DID get a cooler running engine, better milage, smoother shifting and longer oil change intervals. I now use it in all 4 of my cars, Motorcycle, Generator & Snow Blower. I also use their Severe Gear Oil for the H-D Tranny and their Heavy Duty grease for the neck. I also use their Oil & Air Filters which I believe to be superior to the standard models available in Auto Parts Stores and Dealers.

I have a brother-in-law in the truck repair business who is an Amsoil dealer just to get the discount and supply his friends and family members who insist on using it. He maintained my wife's cars before we were married. They always ran very well.

I'm not sure how Amsoil compares to Mobil 1™ synthetic oil in price, but they both seemed to work as well in my wife's car after I took over maintenance. Mobil 1™ is still a winner for my purposes, which are primarily longer oil change intervals and trouble free engines. After more 150,000 miles neither of our 1966 Chevrolet LT1 engines require adding oil between annual oil changes.

Despite averaging around 20 MPG overall with mostly in town driving, those big old V8's make nice power for effortless acceleration when the old codger is feeling frisky, which happens frequently. :o

I use Mobil 1 0w-20 in the vette with a Delco oil filter, factory specs.
Mobil 1 0w20 with Wix filters in the other cars.

Amsoil Sabre 2 cycle oil and Startron enzyme fuel treatment take the hassles out of 2 cycle tools. Mix Sabre at 80:1 and use in everything.

A friend gave me some Amsoil for lube on my 1911's. I tried them, and while they worked great..I found myself back using Mobil 1 synthetic. Mobil 1 is the best lubricant I have ever used in my AR-10. I don't see any reason to switch. I quart will last a fella for a lifetime (at MY age!).

A quality synthetic oil is *slippery as all get out*, and stands up to temerature extremes and extreme loads better than even top quality dead dinoseaur lubericants.

While Amesoil is certainly quality products , I couldn't say if it's substantially beter than Mobil 1 / Rotella T / etc .

i guess im going to stop thinking about using a top grade motor oil and start if it works on your car motor and keeps it cool it should work good on my fire arms gunna try it out this weekend

A pair of my wife's cousins got into Amsoil a little over 30 years ago. They did semi-pro off road racing and later one got into Road Rally racing with an police impounded 911. They all use it and their street cars and farm tractors too. There was a slight shortage of all Amsoil products in the eastern US after Mount St. Helen blew, The company shipped everything in their system to the northwest. They saved many Police cars from a ash shortened life. Ivan

I had a Jeep Cherokee that liked to run a little warm. Started using Amzoil and poof it ran the temp needle right in the middle like it should. No clue on any other properties but it did indeed run cooler.

I had a 7-year relationship with Amsoil oil and filters for my Ford Contour SVT, which is a high-output engine. I found the once-a-year oil change, when I used their filters, to be a money saver, and using the oil gave me a MPG increase of about 2 MPG. I read all the information on it I could find prior to making the decision to use it, and was very impressed with its statistics. Bobs-The-Oil-Guy website will tell you all you need to know about oil and filters, and which ones are worth the money and which ones to stay away from. For me, Amsoil is superior to all the others, including Mobil 1 Syn., now that Mobil 1 is more than $10/quart, with tax, in my area of the country. YMMV.

Mobil 1 is less than $5 a quart at any Walmart.
How about that?! :o

I don't usually bother to stop at Walmart, preferring to support local small businesses instead. But, a 5 quart container of Mobile 1 Full Synthetic Oil is indeed priced at about $5 per quart, including sales tax, according to their website.

I don't use it now but 20 or so years ago I owned a mid 80's Jeep Cherokee Sport that had the miserable little Chevy V6 for power. I thought it was a step up from my '67 Toyota Landcruiser and it was from the comfort standpoint but it was gutless. It was so gutless that it couldn't pull 5th gear if you had a headwind or any kind of incline. I had a buddy that was an Amsoil dealer, he said "I'll bet if you had Amsoil in the gear boxes and diffs it would help." I laughed and he said "I'll give it to you at my cost just to prove a point." I took him up on it and changed all the transmission, transfer case, differentials, etc. and I was a amazed at how easy it shifted in cold weather not to mention the fact that it actually helped with the 5th gear situation, it could actually pull away while in 5th gear. It was still gutless....
