The attached two photos show my latest outside-the-box insight. I have been using a modified DeSantis pocket holster (not the one in the attached photos) with my 442 for quite awhile, but have had to actually use duct tape to keep it securely anchored in the pocket. That method has the serious drawback of more or less dedicating the holster to a particular pair of pants unless you want to mess with duct tape as part of your dressing routine. Well, I thought of something that's seeming to work: I put the DeSantis holster into the pocket, then use an ordinary binder clip on the other side of the pocket, the outside, to grab onto the holster on its big flat part where there's no gun. The clip seems to hang there well, and does not result in irritation to the leg, as I thought at first that it might. The clip disappears from consciousness, and the gun is nicely held there in the pants pocket. When I draw the gun, the holster stays with the pants, not with the gun. The result is an increase in confidence that if I ever draw the gun quickly the holster is going to still be in my pocket, and that's a good feeling.

I hope I'm doing the photo attachment properly. If it doesn't come out right I'll come back and see it I can clean it up. I do hope this idea works for you all, and please tell me so if it does.

Nice idea. I know you said you can't feel it, but I would think that some how I would catch a leg hair on the clip. I wonder if a small money clip or something with no moving parts could be used.
That said I use a Mika pocket holster and it stays in the pocket quite nicely.

i use a black hawk pocket holster and it stays put too...it's not leather...it's a faux suede...

To quote the old silent film actress, Mae West, "Is that a gun in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?"

I have a suede-out holster by one of the smaller makers that uses just enough leather to cover the lower part of my Baby Chief up across the trigger guard. The rough finish provides enough friction to keep the holster in place in my pocket.

Try a Mika or a RKBA pocket holster.

This!

I have two of Bob Mika's and they are fantastic! If you're determined to make what you have work - visit his site and see the "grip strip" he uses.

Aholster makes a great Kydex pocket holster. It has a horn and a hook for pocket retention, doesn't collapse so reholstering is easy and its moisture proof so sweat doesn't get to your gun. I have a 442 that lives in one.

I make my pocket holsters out of 9 ounce veg. tan leather, rough side out. They're designed to hold the gun in a stable position and protect the pocket. They allow the gun to slide in and out while staying put in the pocket.

I use a Galco pocket holster for my j-frame, and it keeps its position in the pocket almost too well. The little "hook" keeps it from coming out when drawing the gun, but it also makes it challenging sometimes to take the holster out of the pocket. The Galco is not the smallest pocket holster, and some of my jeans' pockets are just a tad too small to use the Galco without the tip of the grip showing above the pocket edge. For those jeans I use the Remora holster, which works as either a pocket holster or an IWB holster.

Although I carry in the pocket most of the time, I really prefer to use my Bianchi OWB belt holster whenever possible. It is very comfortable to wear, and frees up the right front pocket for my cell phone!
