I'm trying to recall if I've posted this before. Worth hearing again. Beccy Cole sings for the Aussie forces in Afghanistan. I like her sentiments, sort of the opposite of the Dixie Chicks' view of things.

She wrote this song after a fan opposing the war said that he'd ripped her poster off his wall, because she entertained the troops.

As you listen, remember that a "digger" is an Australian soldier. The term originally dates from WW I.

That was great. I've had the pleasure to visit Australia once, and I can say I've never met an Australian I didn't like.

Wow! Thanks for posting. I'm happy to hear those patriotic words about Australians. Her voice is great and she's nice to look at too.

Good song. Good sentiment. Those Aussies were BAMFs in Nam.

They've had a good battle rep since the Second Boer War of 1899-1902.

As long as we're on this theme, here's , "I Am Australian", by the Seekers, dedicated to their forces in Afghanistan.

This is not their national anthem. That's, "Advance, Australia Fair." But this is a nice tune that reflects their history and their diversity.

Of course, we have to add, "Waltzing Matilda", their unofficial anthem, sung here by one of their best known songstresses, Tina Arena. You've probably heard her singing the theme music for one of the Zorro films. I think that Marc Anthony was her co-singer on that. ("I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You", if memory serves.)

If you pay attention to Cindy Crawford's Furniture to Go commercials, you've heard another Aussie singer, Kylie Minogue, doing the background music.

This (linked song) is evidently at some sports meet; note the faces of the US and Aussie players, painted with their national flags.
