Here's my idea of a great big bore carry revolver. A custom hard chromed model 57 with a 3 1/2" barrel which combines my love of the looks of a 3 1/2" model 27 with my favorite center fire revolver cartridge, the .41 magnum. Don't know who did the excellent work on this neat 57, but really like the ball & detent lock up system added, smoothed trigger, action job and modified grip frame with double palm swell Fuzzy Farrant stocks.
An ideal model 57 carry revolver?

To me the 657 Mountain Gun is about as close to perfection you can get from a factory gun. Mine is well carried and a favorite of mine. The holster is a Milt Sparks AW200.

No N frame is better looking than 3.5." 4" barrels should never have been made.
Please change the grips. I feel like they need longer, more balanced looking grips. I mean, my opinion is what matters to your sweet carry gun
Not sure why you would take a 41 mag for social work over 8 rounds of 357.

The Farrant stocks handle the recoil very well and, yes, the frame was cut to accommodate them.

That is, indeed, a nice custom. What year is the frame, just curious. I wonder why the wording on the barrel was removed, and how it is done without being obvious; the roll stamp is fairly deep.

With the 3.5" barrel it has the advantage over the 3" by having a full length ejector rod...
Looking at your your gun, if I ever find a raggy 3.5" 27-2 for a reasonable price, would rebore the barrel, rechamber to .41 Special and round butt the frame (just like round butts with tapered barrels like the Mountain Gun)
