I was looking through the local classifieds and came across A Smith model E in 30-06. Having a soft spot for mannlicher stocks and it being a Smith, my interest was peaked. The condition is close to new and the price was decent to me so it followed me home. I didn't even know such a critter was around until yesterday. From what little research I could find, was imported by Smith from Sweden in the 60's and 70's. It will join a few others in another brand with full length wood.

The rifle was made for S&W by Husqvarna and they are excellent rifles. Later on S&W Model 1500 & 1700 were made by Howa in Japan.

Very nice rifle. That is a real conversation piece and I love the shot of the S&W logo atop the action. (Sadly, it would be covered up by the scope base I believe.) I recall reading something about the Hasqvarna/Smith rifle but can't say as I'd seen one in person or a photo of one for that matter. Thanks for sharing.
