Plus, if these jokers will act out against a trained police officer it's dead certain they will against a civilian. I'll just stay the grey man and do all in my power to avoid a confrontation. I will never place myself in a situation where I may be perceived to be the instigator. My sainted Dad told me more than 65 years ago "Son, don't ever be the one to start a fight-but if you're forced into one, fight to win". Good advice then and good advice now.I believe you'll get a rude awakening at some point when you find out just how little some care whether or not you have a gun. They can laugh at you with their friends; spit on you; throw drinks on you, all on video. The tough guy can walk up slowly with obviously open hands and get in your face while mocking and cursing you. Are you going to shoot them? Draw your sidearm? These folks know the rules and what YOU can't do without losing a lawsuit or going to prison.
Good luck.
What are you basing this on? I seem to remember the last poll that they did suggested that at least 51% of Americans owned at least one gun. That, by definition, is a majority. How do you know what the majority of Americans feel did you ask the majority of Americans? I mean there's 300 and some million people in this country did you ask 150 some million of them how they feel about firearms?Remember the majority of the public do not own firearms and they feel extremely threatened by people who are carrying openly and so do many people who own firearms.
Unless the police officer is an MP they're already acting out against a civilianPlus, if these jokers will act out against a trained police officer it's dead certain they will against a civilian.
Its a SIG!A chambered round, in a holster and not in a hand is benign. It won't hurt you unless................
Thread drift is the marque of this forum.I am surprised that the discussion of whether the school resource officer was safely carrying deteriorated into a wide-ranging discussion of open carry in general.
Seems to me the sensible response is that the officer very much needed a better holster that offered some REAL retention of the pistol.
ALL the rest of the commentary in this thread IMHO, is just superfluous.
If he had a retention holster and if he had engaged the slide mounted safety the OP would not have posted about him.I am surprised that the discussion of whether the school resource officer was safely carrying deteriorated into a wide-ranging discussion of open carry in general.

Yep....Open carry is sometimes required by state law for individuals other than LEO...If you were a "retired career security guard", in Florida, so would you.Is there a point you're trying to make here?
I wear shorts every single day for months on end....As well as everyone else in Central and South Florida. Anyone NOT wearing shorts here stands out. I also wear shirts like the Hawaiian shirts shown on a regular basis with a firearm or no firearm.T. Because it's been my experience when I show up some place wearing an Aloha I'm usually the only person wearing one and that makes me stand out from the crowd. Same reason I never wear shorts in public.
The only place that I wear Alohas is it family barbecues at The Goat Ranch and it doesn't matter there because it's only family and they all know I'm carrying a gun anyway.

I'm happy for you. I used to live in New Port Richey. But in case you haven't noticed the whole rest of the world isn't Florida.I wear shorts every single day for months on end....As well as everyone else in Central and South Florida. At least one person got the joke. Sheeshe...it must be required for this sub forum... wound to tight, no sense of humor. Its a SIG!
