An Opinion on Gun Control

Great article. The theme of it is something my friends and I have discussed a lot. It has to do with believing in the American People and trusting they are stronger than any government or agency could be. That drives the left crazy but when confronted with the evidence:

0n 9/11.2001 the problem with hijacking aircraft was solved and required no action from the government. The people on flight 93 started it and since then every time a person has tried to strike an aircraft the passengers have stopped them. Not TSA, not Homeland Security, not the <insert 3 letter agency here>. It was the passengers and is the American People who will not let that happen again.

There are a countless number of instances that the media refuses to cover where Americans have stood up and prevented violence. Whether it be with a gun or not is irrelevant, being an American means we stand up for ourselves and don't wait for someone to come "save the day".

That is what the entire argument is framed upon. Reliance and trust on the people or reliance and trust on the government. It isn't a "gun" argument but more gutteral and basic. It comes down to control by the few of the many. They can't win the intellectual argument so they seek to win by legislating their way into our homes, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom.

Gun control is a symptom of a greater disease the antidote to which seems to be the argument.

My pleasure Gents / Glad you enjoyed it.

What ever anyone might think of this gentleman's novels, he certainly know how to make his case. In light of recent events, I'd like to see this essay make it around to as many people as possible.

Agreed, but unfortunately, this definition applies to fewer & fewer of us.

I find it both interesting & tragic, how many citizens (registered voters) of our nation, feel that the appropriate course of action - when the proverbial wolf is at the door, is to scream for mercy like terrified children, instead of taking a bit of personal responsibility.

Excellent article! Thank you for sharing it, GCF...very good information I plan to use in refuting the anti-gun idiots I deal with. Sad to say, many of them are colleagues who are extremely liberal. I'm hoping that actual logic and accurate statistics might persuade them. I know, probably impossible...but hope springs eternal!!!

I think there should be a coordination with law enforcement to prevent cross-fire when the bad guy is already killed. We should NOT encourage parents to bring their guns to school property. I strongly believe it is a good idea to arm certain school employees and have them trained (just a few, maybe 3-4 is enough), or maybe very experienced people to help the school on a volunteer basis. We can't tolerate more school massacres anymore!

It is unbelievable to me why so many people freak out when this idea was proposed by Wayne.

GFC Great article. Thanks. Not all progressive and forward thinking individuals (liberals as you call it) are gun haters, or stupid idiots. I have some friends that are extremely conservative and hate guns.

Sir -
I suppose my comment "for (intelligent) liberal friends & relatives...", was somewhat unfair. I was not intending to peg all liberals as un-intellegent, although in retrospect, I can see how it might look that way to some. Many liberals are indeed, quite intelligent.

My thought was, that only an intelligent, fair minded liberal, would have a chance of appreciating the merits of the author's write up.

With regards to the gun control issue, my beef w/ liberals, or anti-gun conservatives for that matter, is that they want to limit my ability to effectively defend myself, & my family.

Many liberal (& so called conservitive) politicians even claim to be pro-gun, & supporters of the 2nd Amendment. Yet when the chips are down, they will follow the national gun owner registration, gun registration / confiscation party line - because that is where their financial support comes from. As such, in my opinion, regardless how much OTHER common ground MAY be shared, we can not champion the Liberal / Progressive Movement, & realistically expect our 2nd Amendment rights to remain intact.

Just my two cents...

Gun control is like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube. There are so many guns in citizens hands there's no effective way to do it. So watch....they'll go after the ammo. I think that's their next move.
