so long? Well, we made an agreement that we would never go
to bed angry with one-another.
Yes, we have had to stay up all night a few times, but overall
it has worked out.

My wife and I will celebrate our 33rd in a few weeks, when asked
how we've managed to stay together this long our answer is
the same as yours, with the added caveat of separate blankets for the bed.

My folks were married 66 years, dad passed away two days latter.

Oh they were married Friday the 13 th.

I love stories like this. Folks like you that pass the "diamond" plateau are becoming a rarity. Not because of life span, but because the recent generations usually call it quits after "paper" or don't bother to commit at all.

Yes congrats! We're at "just' 30 years, and are looking forward to double that and then some.

Marriage can take work, but for me there's really a simple process that's helped make mine flourish.
Build and maintain a relationship with one's partner, a relationship that is second to none. With that in hand, the rest is easy.

The crazy part? Back in 2000 I gave all my long guns away.
When I told my wife she said you did what? Are you crazy?
That's where the crazyphil came from.

Another one of my favorites of hers: I was reading an article
about when the U.S. Air Force started the Security Service,
Communications intelligence, etc. I was in the USAF Security
Service, so I told my wife about the article. It said they chose
candidates from the top one half of one percent of recruits.
(I was very proud). She said: "That don't say a lot for the
other ninety nine and a half percent does it?"

Congratulations. That's quite a milestone to reach. It takes a lot of give and take by both people to make something last that long.

I'm on year 32. You've practically doubled me.

Dang Phil, I just want to make sure I don't go to the same weddings you do when they have that dance that eliminates people by the number of years they have been married. My goal is to win one of those one of these days - two things though - I hope I can still stand up and act like I am dancing and second I hope I can remember why I am there. We have # 44 just around the corner. Hardly seems possible. I agree with the comment about lack of initiative on my wife's part. She is a saint!
