I am an unashamed fan of the M&P line especially since the 2.0 came out. I had one of the Spec Series black 5" guns that came in a case with a neck knife and medallion. I got talked out of it before I put many rounds through it. It was a shooter.

Evidently S&W only offers a 5" standard model in FDE. Not a big fan of the color, don't see going to war in the sandy spots of the globe at my age of 65 haha. However I really like the feel, balance of the 5" guns-well after a short discussion at my favorite pushers this afternoon and a slight discount with some goodies thrown in I brought one home, nib.

I'm thinking of swapping the front sight for a fiber, will possibly add an Apex kit at some point but for now will run it as is. I have a Streamlight TLR-1 I'll put on it for "stay at home" times. Can't wait for Saturday to hit the range.

And because we like photos:

Changed the sights, added the Apex duty/carry kit with aluminum trigger and have the TLR on it. Hit the range today and it performed perfectly and accurately. Digging this pistol-even the color is growing on me lol.

You can't go wrong with an M&P M2.0 pistol. My Compact 9mm is beside me as I type this, and will be on my nightstand when my head hits the pillow. When I get dressed in the morning it will be on my belt, and that is the routine every day for me. Great shooters that feel great in the hand, and look good while doing it. Smith & Wesson has a real winner with these guns.

I used to shoot competition. The guys who use fiber optic sights typically carry a kit to replace the insert. I watched a factory shooter on my squad trash a stage because his insert disappeared during his run. You don't need a *** moment if you're in a self defense situation.

I still have another 2.0 4" Compact in addition to a Shield Plus LOL. I can't stay away from the M&Ps! Every one has been an outstanding shooter. As for fiber sights-well, I had one rod on a Springfield 1911 go missing and I was still able to see the front sight until I fit another one, not a big deal in my book, as noted it will have a light mounted on it for home use so that provides a very quick and excellent sight picture as well.

I have other pistols that see carry use, night sight for the front on those. Need to measure the height on the stock sight and order a sight from Dawson.

I happen to like FDE as I live in a sandy spot on the globe. Black guns are boring, as 99.5% of them are that color.

My 5 inch 9mm is a keeper.
For range, the Winchester 124 NATO load groups very well, 124 gr. HST is my carry load.

I do Cerakote, and I finished my M&P .45 in "S&W Tan", same finish that comes on the FDE 9mm.
9mm on top and .45 ACP on bottom:

Also did the .45 Shield in S&W Tan:

For some reason I don't mind hinged triggers on Shields but don't like the hinged triggers on the FS M&Ps.
I replaced the factory trigger with the Apex Duty/Carry kit with FDE trigger on both the .9mm and .45. Pull is now a short, crisp, 5 1/2 lbs.

Sights are Tru Glo Tritium/FO. The fiber optic tube is pretty well encased in metal , doesn't look fragile at all.
There are some slots cut into the top of each F/O tube to let some light in, but there is not a lot of exposed tube like on F/O sights that are more target oriented.

If I had to do it again, I'd get the Ameriglo. That orange/red Tritium front sight stands out better than anything I've tried.

I've always had Streamlight but for this M&P, I bought an Olight PRO. Not lightweight or small, man does it put out the light. Rated at 1300 lumens, it is bright. The green laser is pretty intense too.

After looking at various sights I'm going with the Ameriglo Spartan with the yellow/green ring around the tritium dot on the front.

I had the .45 in fde that came with the Tru Glo fiber/tritium. They were pretty decent.

very good. beautiful gun. please keep supporting smith and wesson, a great all american gun company. m&p 2.0 fde with thumb safety is the closest thing approaching art in a modern polymer gun. between a rolex and an m&p 2.0 fde with thumb safety, i'd sell the rolex and keep the gun. then use the funds from the rolex to purchase ammo for the gun

Spec Series black 5" guns that came in a case with a neck knife and medallion. I picked one of these in like new shape for 425.00 last month splurged for an hour of indoor range time today 300 round later I'm totally smitten. 7 yards big holes, 15 yards, no problem, even kept 3 inch groups @. 20 yards. So glad I started down the M&P path
