I decided I wanted another custom revolver for 2026. I was planning on another big bore Ruger but I remembered reading Sixguns by Keith about Elmer's friend that used a 6 1/2" and Elmer's load with the 429421 bullet and killed all manner of game with it. The more I thought about it I decided I wanted to do an old school hunter. I started looking for a solid but not pristine gun to use for the build. This one popped up and it's perfect for my purposes. The action is smoot and tight. No major pitting so refinish wont be bad. Of course if I could find a King's target rib for it it would be awesome. Since that probably isn't going to happen its getting Micro -Sight sights and nice grips.

Personally, I'd stay closer to the Skeeter load of a 245 grain Keith bullet over 7.5 grains of Unique (or the equivalent, since Unique is hard to come by these days).
I totally agree. I load Skeeter's load for about all of these including my model 24. Plenty of power for most anything this will ever be aimed at. There are several powders that are a fair substitute for Unique. I have burned a lot of Unique. I sure do miss it.
