Another cryptic abbreviation

IHAOT- I hate all of them, made up acronyms that is. I still haven't got YMMV, your mileage may vary, I guess. IMHO I have never felt the need to place a disclaimer on my internet ramblings.

I thought it was ******* while in water, you know making bubbles.

Glad you added the bit about the bubbles. I thought for a minute you meant what a certain brunette wanted me to do in the pool while on vacation. I did explain that it was not a good idea for sound scientific reasons, such as the hotel had a surveillance camera in there.:eek::eek::eek:

I have found that most anything you have a question about, someone else has had a question about at some point in the recent past, and Googling it will quickly reveal the answer.

Either that, or searching the Urban Dictionary that, while quite disturbing, profane, and vulgar in many of its entries (wow, the things people think of...ugh) is as up-to-date a source on words and phrases from popular culture as anything else you'll find online.

You know, FWIW....:D

Try this one on for size: OMGIFWIWIWGTS?

"For what it's worth." --FWIW

I be most of us know TEOTWAWKI and WTSHTF at a glance. Sure a lot easier than typing it out.

Personal favorits from before the internet:

TLA (Three Letter Acronym)
ETLA (Extended Three Letter Acronym)
HETLA (Hyper Extended " ")
SHETLA (Super Hyper Extended " ")

We took it as an article of faith that the Navy invented and copyrighted the Shetla. Though there was a rumor going around base that there was an EIEIO by the name of MacDonald somewhere aboard.

And one from high school, usually offered as a rhetorical question, spoken instead of spelled out:

DILLIGAFFTTHOAD?

"Do I Look Like I Give A Flying **** Through The Hole Of A Donut?"

(Sarcasm was big in the late 70's)

I read somewhere that only after you join the SWHF will you find out. I believe they will also tell you about that mysterious symbol on the Highway Patrolman barrel. ;)
