Some months ago, I wrote about finding high-quality Fisher Lightning cell phone charging cables for $5 at Dollar Tree. No problems yet with them. Tonight I went to Dollar Tree and while there, I saw they had Fisher power banks (backup battery for cell phones) priced at $3. I have thought several times about getting one for those "just in case" situations in which my cell phone has completely discharged and I am nowhere near an electrical outlet to recharge it. That has not yet happened to me, but it has been close several times. While the Fisher is low capacity, 1500 mAh, that is enough to power the phone for a few hours if need be. And it is small, about like a cigarette pack sliced in half down the long way, and easily pocketable. I checked prices on eBay, and the same Fisher backup battery is $18, so if you can use one, pay a visit to Dollar Tree.

A 1500 is probably not as big capacity probably as what the battery is in your phone, guessing 50-75% of your phone battery.
Yes excellent for 'emergency', buy 2.
I have 3, a 2600, a 6700, a 12000. My small Nikon camera is powerable by them when the camera battery is used up. I keep the charged 6700 in the car for travelling, yes i also have the 12v to USB adaptor in the car.

Most modern TVs have a USB port, 2 of the pins is for data, the other 2 are for power, will charge a phone.

I have 3 8000mAh batteries. They were $10ea. at Walmart. Used them to charge my phone and run lights and fans. Charged an electric Zippo, and a pair of headphones. Useful little gadgets when away from usual sources of power.

My iPhone is an older model and has a battery capacity of around 3000 mAh, so 1500 mAh is about 50%. I think that is adequate for emergency use, and I hope I never need it. Just a little cheap insurance. I have USB ports in my vehicles, also lightning cables, so I will normally be OK as long as I am at home or in the car.

If the camera has a USB port, having an external battery would be a good standby power source. I don't think any of mine do, but I have never checked. I keep a pair of rechargeable camera batteries (always fully charged) in my camera case anyway.

In my post#2, should've been a bit more explicit. The camera doesn't have a USB port, just a charging port like a phone's charging port.

I thought everything at Dollar Tree was $1.25 ?
I believe they jumped from 1.00 to 1.25 minimums at least a year ago. For even longer they have had in-store islands of more expensive items, up to $10.00 I think.
