Another Fine Revolver

I have recently acquired a Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman with a 4" pinned and recessed barrel, combat diamond grips(factory) blue finish, .357 magnum.Serial Number is S305xxx(2nd gun of this model made in 1968).Just another fine example of Smith and Wesson craftsmanship at its best. Have sent for the letter from Mr. Roy Jinks just to find out where this piece has been hiding for the last 42 years.

This S-series 28-2 was made in 1966-67, and since my 'smith tuned it, it's one of the smoothest revolvers I own. It's my favorite 4", that's for sure.

BTW - Iamsniper1, your gun is the way a 28-2 was intended to look - wear on the grips, and with a worn service holster. A working gun all the way. The best of Smith & Wesson, as far as I'm concerned.

Another Fine Revolver Updated/Roy Jinks

Received my letter from Roy Jinks today and here's what he has to say-
"Smith&Wesson Model 28-2,357 Highway Patrolman,Pinned&Recessed Variation,4 inch barrel,brush blue finish and checkered walnut grips.
Shipped from factory Dec 15,1967,delivered to Jerry Sports Center Inc.Olyphant,PA".This revolver will also reside in my 6 year old grandson's
collection.

Does that mean the Targets are original? I thought the 4 incher might have had magnas.

The previous owner told me that as soon he bought this gun,he sent it out to a gunsmith to have it set up for competition shooting and that was when the target grips were installed,He purchased the gun in 1968.
