400 rounds of Remington Golden Bullet and Federal Value Pack from Walmart. 2 or three jams, mostly with the remington. But I was firing as fast as I could pull the trigger for over an hour. The brass was flying! So much fun. With the price of centerfire ammo being what it is, this and my Ruger 10/22 are gonna get much more play time! One of the factory mags would fail to lock the slide open maybe 30% of the time. Don't know what's up with that. But I know I'm ordering at least 2 more factory mags. Home run S&W! Also, I'm still a traditional DA/SA guy, but the short reset on the M&P really lets me rip them off. One guy asked me if i was shooting a full auto!

Sounds familiar, can't load the magazines fast enough! Good times. My long-time shooting buddy now asks "did you bring your 22?" every time we go shooting. He is saving up for his own (putting a kid thru school).

My M&P 22 should be shipped tomorrow. Already have my box of Federal Value Pack waiting :).

I suggest ordering more mags. They get empty REAL fast when you spend 18 bucks for 550 rounds! Also suggest wearing gloves on your loading hand. .22 ammo is dirty. My right hand was black when I left!

Thanks, was considering another mag. Also was considering a speed loader like a baby lula. I have one for my Shield 9mm and love it.

Where you getting 550 rounds for 18 bucks? Great price! Thanks! George

I am envious!

I'm envious! I bought an M&P 22 a few months ago and had one session on the range with it. I, too, enjoyed it a lot - but unfortunately, went outside on my patio to clean it. While reassembling, the recoil spring took off like an early test firing of a Polaris missile. Had no idea which direction it went and haven't been able to find it. S&W has been no help at all; they say "No parts for the M&P 22 are yet available" so it looks like it's going to be a while before I fire it again.

Get a large magnet and put it on a stick.. Go to your local dump lumber yard or even tool rental location may be they will lone you a pickup tool it like a large broom on wheels with a magnet in place of bristles.. Or even a better idea! Hunt down someone with a metal detector. I'm sure they will find it for you!! I have detectors and do this all the time for things I have lost. Looking is not enough.. George

Oh let us know if you find it! Good luck!

Another thought. Contact "Walther" they make the M&P for Smith & Wesson, S&W does not make them.. I'm sure they will send you what you need. They are in Germany but with the internet that should not be a issue for just a spring. george

shield,
Thank you! I'll be heading over to my local Walmart to see what they have in stock. Ya I can use some 9mm too.. Great! George

Picked up my new M&P 22 this afternoon from my LGS! Scheduled range time for this Saturday :).

Shield,
Hello, You have helped me out a lot with a few things! Glad you have your M&P! i hope your trip to the range goes well. what I use is a green aerosol can of Remington spray lube with Teflon. It;s a light cleaning lube but best of all the Teflon modules are so small they make there way into the pores of the metal. I have always used this doing break in. I just spray down the gun let it sit a few then shake it out and sometimes I run just a rag down the barrel.. spray the feed ramp real well with mag out.. This technique works well for me and polishes all the moving Parts well as well as giving you a even better trigger and in the end smother gun.Anyway mane thing is be careful have fun and enjoy your time at the range. Please post how it went. Thanks again George

The local Fin Feather Fur has the Federal 525 round blue box on sale for $15.99. I bought a box even though I don't currently have anything to shoot them with.

Shot my new M&P22 this morning for the first time, had a great time with it. Basically no recoil, especially compared to my Shield 9. Decent accuracy for me. Probably went through about 150 rounds, had some FTE's shooting the Federal Value Pack. I'm sure I can up the round count when I get my extra mags :).
