I’ve had these in my stash.. never used them.

Does anyone recognize the style and might take a guess who might have made them?

Thanks!

Here’s a pic of the inside.. looks like the number 55 is scratched or written on both pieces.

GRIPS or STOCKS, one or the other. S&W calls them stocks, about everyone else calls them grips. On S&W revolvers they are fit on the grip frame! Go figure.

So far as the target stocks, they could be Herrett, I have a very similar set that is jusy not quite so extreme. Remember these were made to fit an individuals hand and this affects the overall appearance of a particular set.

The checkering is not typical of Herrett. Anyway I like this kind of grips. If you want to get rid of them......

I know those style custom made grips were popular back in the day. But if I needed that much help to get a tight group I think I would find another sport. Just me.

Didn't Sanderson number the inside of his grips to correspond to the customer?

Adios,

Pizza Bob

Early Herretts . Fancy wood.......definate high dollar custom . Have to get a piece of carpet , don't want to scratch 'em up from no nasty range bench . Whomever they made for had a set of meathooks on him .

Those appear to be of the style often used by competitors in the formal NRA bullseye matches. The old stand on your hind legs, hold the gun in one hand and shoot-at up to 50 yards, largely, if not exclusively, single action. They still do those matches, but they're hard to find.

Popular in the 1980's and many had them on their 22 target pistols. Not a fan myself, but many did buy them.

NRA Bullseye (now Precision) Match .
We shot with 3 guns , a 22 Rimfire , 32 or 38 cal. centerfire and 45 cal centerfire , usually a 45 acp in 1911 form .

Each gun was fired in three legs ... Slow Fire , Timed Fire and Rapid Fire .

We had an indoor shooting league , we gathered on Tuesday nights to shoot the different legs and many would practice on Thursday nights . The better shooter helping the new shooters hone their skills .
The Range gave us discounts for being in the League . It was good clean fun , taught you to shoot ... one handed , unsupported , realy taught you some skills .
Target grips helped your score and every one of my pistols had some special Target Grips ...it didn't matter what it looked like ...if it could better your score ... you used it !
Those days are gone ... seems now it's spay the area with 15 rounds of 9mm and hope too many bystanders don't get hit ..
I much prefer small groups that look like clover leaf's ... but I'm old .

Are you my twin brother ? 😂😂😂

Grips or Stocks.
Violins or Fiddles.
Accomplished players and shooters don't care what you call them as long as they fit and are set up correctly for their needs. :D

There are two ways to bring home the Gold.
Grips that fit your hands or a visit to the dentist. :D

Same with the grip on your bow.

Just what i preach to clay target shooters. Got a solid shooting gun and low target scores, don't see a gun dealer, see a stock maker. Fit is everything

My guess is they are high dollar( for when made) custom Herretts. Very nice wood
