Another Model 27-2 Ship Date Request

One of these days I've got to buy a copy of the Standard Catalog of S&W.

I just bought this 5" model 27-2 from a forum member here, and would like to know the approximate ship date, please. From a quick search, I believe it would have been shipped in 1975 or 76. Could someone please verify? The serial number is N3616XX.

Yes, 1975/76. Someone may have a ship date for a close SN but I do not. Nice gun, enjoy.

I have two 5" 27-2s in the same range as your gun, N361912 and N361983, both of which shipped in August 1976.





In addition, I have an 8 3/8" 27-2 (SN N361480) that shipped in October 1976.

So, absent an Historical Letter or a SWCA ship date, and recognizing that the Factory did not ship in SN order, (as noted by my sample of three N361XXX range 27-2s) I would still expect that your 5" 27-2 in the N3616XX range shipped in mid-1976, making it a Bicentennial gun!

Thank-you gents for the answers. For once I got lucky and another forum member was selling a great condition presentation case, tools, and papers for a 5" 27-2. Received the case one day and the revolver the next. That's not the way my luck usually works!

Very nice gun. Combined with the case it will be a nice package. I have a nickel 5 inch 27-2 and looked at a blue one in Tulsa. Went back later and it was gone. Congrats.
