I recently aquired my 15-22 from Acadmey sports, that day..It was off to the range! I fired everything from cci to blazer to 3 different kinds of bulk pack's...all with out a hitch. The gun came in stock trim and I added a laser, red-dot scope and riser to co-witness with the factory irons...but...I wanted more...immediatly...that urging led me to these very forums and to a user named BELT_FED. I contacted him, he was very professional with quick sometimes even witty reply's and we set up a time to have my barrel threaded and one of his one off barrel shrouds fitted...when I say one-off it honestly is hand crafted by him on a crank mill and lathe in a garage, but dont let this fool you...It is top notch work.

We met saturday at his little workshop and at first glance you may be nervous as I was...but this guy is a perfectionist and there is no worries! I came to have my barrel threaded and got more than I bargained for...I got a lesson on machine guns, senators, women, machining, small town living, and self pride. He is passionate about firearms and is a genuinely sincere and an honest person to deal with. I would urge anyone who can make it out to have their barrel threaded in person to do so, and bring some AMMO there is a shooting range in driving distance and a good excuse to BS the day by.

I am overly pleased with the service performed to my rifle and the experience of meeting good people (him & his wife...and the mexican restaruants waitress). There is good food and good company to be had in Warren county, and it's all LESS than 100 BUCKS.

with all this being said here are the pic's:

if there are any "off" looks to the threads or the material behind it it's not...It has been rubbed with silver anti-seize and I didnt wipe off before snapping pictures the threads are super clean and the shroud literally spins on and tightens up nicely. He even recrowned the barrel. I highly recommend his service.

Gun looks great. Nice shoes, too. :D

Curious to belt_fed's lesson on women. :p

Do you normally shoot it w/ the stock fully extended and that butt pad on it? If so, how long are your arms?
What riser is that and how tall is it? Looks good butted up to the rear sight like that.

im sure he shoots it all the way extended... im a pretty big ol boy and i found myself looking up at him... and i must say i like the riser myself... his setup points very easilly... it takes very little work to get "lined up" and it co-wits very well also

lol, yeah i shoot it extended with the pad, I'm 6'4" and I still feel crowded...was thinking bout getting Belt_fed to make me an aluminum extension that some of the AR guys might actually enjoy. The riser is your run of the mill cheapie NcStar. I found it cheaper at nashville airsoft than anywhere online. Think it was 10.99 and it's metal...I'm thinking steel but could be aluminum.

Thanks for the info on the mount. I have been looking for a mount to get my red dot up enough to put my iron sights back on. The red dot makes everything easy but I need a lot of practice w/ iron sights.
I am 6' and I run mine in the 4th position. I like my nose right behind the charge handle though. Each his own.
Where are yo located Belt Fed?

haha, I woulda bet you money it was maury county! glad they make an "edit" feature.

AWESOME thread...this is what this forum is for...good fun, good men, good company and good work...

Have fun and be safe.
