It’s great to see so many folks getting M&P FPCs.
I bought mine on 3/10/23 but only really got an opportunity to shoot it this week due to a four week hiatus when it was at S&W for the firing pin issue.
I had never had a red dot on a long gun before and since Trijicon is an American Christian faith based company (a Bible reference seems to be on all their optics) and I have three Trijicon RMRs on handguns that I’m very pleased with I decided to go with the Trijicon MRO high (1/3 Co-Witness) mount.
As I mentioned this is my first red dot on a long gun so I’ve got a lot to learn.
After shooting a hundred rounds or so through it I’m confident that I could get better groups with a LPVO but I think the red dot will be quicker for me and since it is only a range gun not a long range prairie dog slayer the red dot is more than sufficient.
This is the first five shots from a bench at 25 yards and illustrates my lack of long gun red dot skills.
This sighting in target again shows my inability to shoot consistently small groups with a red dot.
After I got it sighted in reasonably well for the first range session I tried a head shot “hosing” from the bench at 25 yards. I was trying to fire as soon as the dot dropped back down but obviously I didn’t wait quite long enough for one shot.
I had set up targets at 25, 50, and 100 yards
My first attempts at offhand at those distances at a fast pace did not go well.
This is the 25 yard target.
Overall I’m well pleased with it now that it goes bang every time.
I definitely need to work on my red dot long gun skills.
I might put a scope on it just to see what IT can do not being limited by ME.
Cheers
James
