Another newbie

Greetings, I am a fellow S&W nut. It all started when my father gave me a 29-6, 8 3/8" .44 mag. Since then the madness has not stopped. I own a number of fine S&W firearms, and have owned many more in the past. I feel that these are the best guns ever made, you just cant beat the smoothness and reliability! I know other brands claim to be able to handle hotter loads or whatnot, but if I need more power, I just grab a bigger gun! I own the .500 mag, and never seem to need more power than that! If you want to crank up handloads to destructive power, thats your business, but I wont risk any of my great S&W's to a learning experience. I already bulged a barrel on my 29-6, because a light load got stuck in the barrel and I didnt realize it, then fired a magnum round behind it. Now I just shoot lighter guns for less recoil!
I cant say enough good things about S&W, always enjoyed their guns the most for fit and function. I do own other brands, but when I need reliability its S&W for me!
I did have one of their first 1911's, and couldnt get it to stop jamming on the last case, I would like to get a new E-series but dont want to end up with the same problem! If someone has one I would like to hear about your experience with it!

A Sociological observation

Hello Fellow Smith & Wessonites,

I am finding an ever increasing duality in my life experience, especially as my fascination with firearms comes into play. Yes, I am from California. Born and raised. I have been the target of discrimination and even derisive verbal attacks because I have not chosen to move to a state where the legislators are sane. Instead, I fight. I've given the NRA more money than I care to think about (can't even remember what kind of member I am as they become somewhat ridiculous after lifetime member). I always loved history, but cannot tolerate the mandate to embrace all things to the Left. Thus, I gave up my position as a History professor at UCLA and bought a gun shop. Now, I own perhaps the only Bed and Breakfast that has its own shooting range and offers lessons to the hordes of Europeans who come to see Yosemite and have never seen a real firearm. Please understand that I am not complaining...I am fine. But, I do not understand the vitriol I see towards Californian pro-gun people from their peers from other states who remember what America is supposed to be. The two large population centers on the coast control our voting. There are a lot of us who are here fighting the fight at significant personal cost. I shall now climb down off my observational soapbox and enjoy anecdotes and obscure information about some of the finest firearms ever made. Thanks
