I bought this Rabensburg-made holster back in March. I mentioned it earlier but did not get to show photos after receipt. It came from a collection in San Antonio.

The overall condition is very good, but the cuff and immediate surrounds was rubbed with a dark polish. It is not only dark but dull. Below the cuff is original and looks great. The cuff is unacceptable. What should I do to restore some of its original appearance?

Well, I already did something and that was to rub the cuff with a light soapy water to see if any of this residue would come off. There was a lot of dark brown on my terra cloth rag, but the cuff still remains dark and dull.

I would try a sponge, not soaking wet, with Murphy Oil Soap to clean, and then after it is completely dry, I would use BlackRock Leather 'N Rich by following their instructions.

Or, Saddle-soap and then Blackrock.

Well, an update to the holster cleaning.

Initially, I did a little soapy water on the cuff area and let it dry and then tried Murphy and let it dry. There was some improvement but not enough.

I bought Fiebing's Saddle Soap yesterday and applied that this morning and will wait about 3 days to see if more black is gone. I looked a few minutes ago under a lamp and a little of the basket weave is showing some of its original brown color, but the leather is still damp and otherwise dark.

I ordered online a Blackrock test kit about 3 days ago, and it should arrive within a week or less.

I will provide a photo after drying to see if there is real improvement or try another round of saddle soap.
