Another Reg Mag

I am thinking about selling this soon, but I have never shared it, so here are some poor photos. It is about 95% overall with un-numbered grips that have a two tone gold color over silver backing logo. Slight high edge wear and a little wear at the muzzle. I will be sending off for a letter soon for more info on it.

Looks very nice. Is that a 6.5" barrel? Of course, the value on these is greatly enhanced by having the box and accessories.

It is a 6". No box or papers. I was happy to get any Reg Mag., just lucked out with a nice one.

Congratulations on a nice RM. The two-tone gold and silver effect on the medallions is due to some of the nickel plating on the medallions being worn off of the high spots on the medallions, thus revealing the underlying brass.

Since you are planning on lettering and selling your nice RM, one of the things that you should know is that the barrel looks to be a post-war replacement barrel, with the post war integrated ramp and no cut-out in the ejector rod housing for the over sized pre-war ejector rod nob. It also looks like the ejector rod (or nob) has also been replaced, most likely so that it will fit in the post war ejector rod shroud. In addition to the above indicators of a replacement barrel, it would appear that the front sight ramp and sight extend almost to the end of the barrel (hard to tell from the angle of your very nice photos), whereas the barrel rib on original RM barrels were recessed about 1/8" and the sight set flush with the recessed rib at the business end of the barrel. Is the barrel's serial number the same as the rest of the parts on the gun (e.g. the rear face of the cylinder, the bottom of the grip frame, etc...)? If the sn is the same, are there any re-work marks (diamonds or stars) or dates under the grips or stamped in the barrel shroud? These would indicate that the gun went back to the factory at some time to get a "new" barrel.

The barrel has the serial number in the shroud and the barrel is inlet into the front just at the depth of the checkering. I pulled the grips and don't see any obvious rework marks such as a date. There is a B with a dot over it on the lower front grip strap, no other markings. The grips are not numbered.
