Another statue gone

I just read that they want to rename the John Wayne airport in Orange County, Kali. because of some “racist and homophobic remarks” he made in a Playboy interview in 1971! Unbelievable!

By the way, there is a 9 foot tall statue of John Wayne at the airport. Wonder if it will last through the weekend? I think the Texas Ranger "One Riot, One Ranger" statue at the Dallas Love Field airport is also marked for destruction. And the Christopher Columbus statue in a San Antonio city park is the scene of a large protest this afternoon.

I just opened a kitchen cabinet and what did I see, a box of Saltine "Crackers" not crisps but "Crackers". I was taken aback, offended and I had to sit down in angst. I need to know who to contact to let know I am offended and need to know who to contact to have the offensive term removed from the English language.

This "Madness" is going to continue until some "Butt Kicking" is administered to these "Spoiled Children".

How are these "Protesters" holding down jobs when they are out "Protesting"?

Grandma and Mommy holding down the job of collecting for being useless as well.

multi-generations of the well fare system, everyone's a victim. We've taught the lazy and shiftless well.

I am growing extremely weary of the symbolic revisionist actions these days. Symbols. Perhaps they bring back bad memories. But forgetting the sins of the past isn't good either. Revisionism. The Holocaust was horrific, and that's an understatement. There are groups that want to pretend it never happened. All it takes is to meet someone with a tattooed serial number on their arm. Chills.

We cannot forget. The Holocaust, slavery, lynchings, discrimination. There's a huge list of sins committed by one against another. No matter how painful it is, we cannot forget. We must learn from past sins and never repeat them. Tearing down statues is just hiding from the realities and horror of the past.

Apparently there is a move afoot to rename The Masters golf tournament because, you know. This isn't going to stop because there are no adults in the room anymore. Just when the COVID isolation had me rethinking my plan to live as a hermit in a bunker in Wyoming, here we are.

I don’t know why but while grocery shopping I bought Aunt Jemima pancake mix and syrup. I didn’t need either as I have plenty of both in other brands. Hopefully a spike in sales of Aunt Jemima products will have the corporate heads reconsidering their idiotic decision to change the name. The real Aunt Jemima was a self made millionaire and should honored for her achievement as the first black woman to have done so.

I bet that before Christmas we'll need to re-name a certain paint color.

French cosmetic firms already announced the removal of descriptors such as "whitening" or any " white" adjective from their products.

"Spare the rod" has indeed "Spoiled the child" $600 a week ends the July 25th. July 15th is the deadline for 2019 income tax payments. If 100,000,000 people decide they can't afford to pay taxes what then? Does the IRS put a rock on 100,000,000 unemployment checks? I wish I was getting $600 a week, I'd buy more guns and ammo because I'm getting "uncomfortable".

I worked for a company....

... that was hosting a 'family day'. One of the products was used for 'bleaching' flour. I was told, "No, say 'whitening flour', these are regular people and 'bleaching' sounds bad. Ok, so it's 'whitening' flour. You can't whiten and you can't bleach, so I guess it will be 'de-colorizing' next.:)

You are correct - we should not forget the horrors of our own past. But perhaps we also shouldn't build monuments to those who committed them in the first place?

But before anyone's eyes start glowing red, please realize that the question now becomes where we draw the line - after all, some will argue even Washington and Jefferson owned slaves. Everyone's line is different. We built monuments and memorials to Confederates and our nation goes through social spasms trying to figure out what to do about it over 150 years later; yet we also perpetrated untold atrocities against Native Americans and nobody says anything to anyone dressed like a cowboy other than "Nice hat!". What I do know is that over time, the line in question becomes a moving target.

My personal solution is to NOT destroy any monument; but perhaps moving all of them within a particular locality to one single place to 'memorialize the monuments' would appease both sides. One side could call that place "Monument Park"; the other could call it "The Island of Misfit Toys" (or something else, you get my meaning) but both sides would get something positive out of the deal.

I'm not a vampire to be white.

I am of a rather tasteful blend of pink, beige and a little dab of khaki. :D

Now what are you going to do about that. I ask of you.:D

I can either ignore you or complain about you - Americans are quite good at both! :D
