The television reported that another one of those" kick the door in types" was fatally shot by a homeowner in Midwest City OK last eve. The Police
Chief was shown saying that because of the Make My Day law, it looked as if the homeowner was within the law in what he had done.

I have never heard of the Make My Day Law. Is that similar to the Castle Doctrine? At any rate I guess the homeowner was ready for him and he has every right to protect his family.

Why do they call it that? Because everytime I hear of a scumbag getting blown back out the door he just kicked in, It Makes My Day!

If the media would publish more of this, the home invaders might think a little harder about going into a house that they know someone is home in.

I dont think they spend much time thinking.

Which is why we don't need 'em! Bang, they're gone!

As I understand the Oklahoma law, if you feel a threat to your life( it better be enough threat to pass muster with the police and D.A.) you can end that threat. It does not have to be in your home, it can be on the street, in your car or anywhere that you happen to be.
There have been several people who have acted under our law, with no one being prosecuted except Ersland, who went back and shot the robber several times as he was lying on the floor.
Common sense is the requirement in this type of thing as in anything else.

Another happy ending.
Pity the homeowner has to live with the poor decision choices of others.

roundgunner, the reason the press doesn't publish these cases very often is they have a tough time making the thug look like a victim. Our local news tries to do it every chance they get.

Oh, don't worry, they'll get around to interviewing the family and friends and we'll get to hear how this poor, underprivileged young man was such a great guy, he went to church every Sunday, helped the elderly, read to children, and was just really getting his life together and how he didn't deserve this.

Good for the homeowner. I'm not sure about the law being the exact same here in Indiana, but if Mr. Breakin comes through my door or windows with bad intent he'll get the same welcome.

PAs new and improved castle doctrine is going to be used in the defense of a guy who shot two other men. The story still isnt clear, but it sounds as though two men knocked at his door and he hot them outside. He's claiming it was self defense but the story as reported sounds fishy.

Our new castle doctrine is pretty darn nice. Allows you to freely defend yourdelf in your home, vehicle, or any place you are legally allowed to be.

VA trying to join other states with a version of the Castle Doctrine but as usual our legislators can't agree on content.

True, but we got rid of the "One Handgun a Month" law. I'm sure that Stan Lee over at Marvel comics will do a special issue of Batman about how unenlightened, terrible and clueless we are. (Sigh).
