Just won this in an auction....
S&W Victory model, .38 S&W caliber... all matching numbers, including the grip panels...Missing the lanyard ring...

The puzzler to me is what is stamped on the butt... There is No V, and there is a WP or and what looks like a "partial stamped" flaming bomb...

Any info would be very appreciated...

Guy nailed it. A BSR from early 1942. It is late enough to be a Lend/Lease unit, which is why it has the property stamp. WB is the U.S. government's acceptance stamp, the initials of the officer in charge at the time. In this case, it refers to Col. Waldemar Broberg.

The stocks are correct and may be original, but they do show a bit of warping or shrinkage at the butt. The lanyard swivel is missing, but that is easily replaced. The nice thing is that this one hasn't been mutilated. Good pick up!

There doesn't seem to be any British proofs on this... Does that mean that it may not have gone overseas ???
