I know...i said I was done...but we got this Black Friday leadup sale flyer...women's clothes. Y'all know what happened. Wife bought a bunch of ...well...stuff she didn't need. I never do that ANYWHERE!. While she was shopping I went and looked at the gun library...mostly fantastic plastics..leaving that part of the gun stuff I did find some Herter's 22 LRHPs at 30 dollars for 500 so for 6 cents I bought two boxes. They had Herter's 223 blow away ammo for 40 cents each. Called a friend..he wanted a couple so I got 2 of them too...150 rounds per box. Saw another kinda friend as I was leaving. He had bought primers at Cabela's. He was trying to return 'em...actually his wife bought SRPs when he wanted LRPs. They don't do returns. So I did the only fair thing I could do. I bought 'em from him. Paid close to what he paid...but he said I owe him a favor now. He's going to get a box of 100 gr 25 caliber Sierras cheap. BTW..my wife got a lot of expensive stuff she didn't need...so I didn't get out of there cheaply if ya know what I mean! And she said..."everything I bought was on $ale"...yeah:rolleyes:

Never been in a Cabela’s or a Bass Pro. None anywhere near me. I wish there was. I’d have a shot at getting some primers.

Where in PA are you?
I used to go to the Cabela's in Hamburg, PA when I was regularly in the area. In fact, I was there for the grand opening. It was (still is?) the biggest of their retail stores. It was (past tense!) spectacular! Just in terms of reloading, they had it all. Powder, primers, bullets, from the usual domestic and many exotic foreign sources (want .577 Nitro brass for your British double rifle? No problem!), and all the gear you'd expect, (with the exception of Dillon). They even sold benchrest tools by Sinclair, Bonanza, etc. Prices were really great. And the used gun inventory was quite good, too. The taxidermy displays were of amazing museum level quality. The place became a vacation destination that literally transformed and revitalized the local economy.
It was a miracle of the power of the American free enterprise system.

How quickly times changed....
We all know the sad story of the buyout and their demise.
It would be a bad joke if it wasn't such a tragedy.
And, it's all too familiar of a pattern that's caused so much damage to our country. :(

Milford. NE PA. Just over NY border.

Don't you just love it, going shopping with the wife and buying all those things that are

wait for it

here it comes

on $ale !!!

I go to my Cabelas usually twice a week. Lately I haven’t been buying something every time I go in like I used to when they had limits and the shelves were usually bare - if they don’t have any good deals I walk out. Did score a bag of #7 1/2 lead shot a few weeks back, and scored some 45 long colt today, and got a box of 500 extreme .38 special bullets for reloading

I just got a letter telling me my Cabela’s visa hasn’t been used in 4 years and will be cancelled soon.

But then, the wife doesn’t have that one.

I ordered a Savage Axis on Black Friday morning online to be delivered to Billings. Well I hoped I was gonna get it. The price was 2 cents shy of 300 bucks...with scope(Bushnell). Checked on the order and had been delivered this Wednesday. Went in and picked it up Thursday. It's a 243...mainly because I have about 20 boxes of ammo and no rifle in that caliber. While we were there...my wife bought more on sale items. She's just keeping even with my spending, don't you know!

Cabelas put a regional warehouse and large store in Wheeling WV, the north panhandle of my state, several years ago. Then they located a basketball arena sized store in my home town, Charleston. It was great for a couple of years, heavy stock, very fast special orders. Quality clothing. Then Bass Pro bought them. No fast service, clothing deteriorated. All else as well.

My wife liked the Cab else's jeans as well as the ones sold by BassPro(Redhead). Not any longer. Quality has disappeared...price has gone up...and they don't seem to care. As far as School's. Their prices on most things are outrageous. Surprisingly reloading items are if not cheap...many are available. Wife says when they have clothes on SALE...they are still overpriced. I have bought 2 Dillon presses on sale at the Billings store though. Cheaper than Dillon with no shipping. ..
