Another "What is It"

A gentleman that I know came up to me and said "Hey I got this when my brother passed, what is it?" I looked it over and told him "it's a S&W revolver in .38 special. Other than that I'm lost". Any help would be appreciated and a approximate value.

It looks like a pre war m+p that has been modified with adjustable sights and wears 50s era grips.

King sights on a Heavy Duty. It is not an M&P as the M&P does not have the enclosed ejector rod.

Agreed. It has the one line address on the frame,(a pre-war frame).

However,that is a postwar serial number in the ejector rod recess.

King sights. Nice.

Any action work on it?

Serial # is S63860

SCSW shows the production years as 1946-47. Must be a Postwar Transitional HD! It has the long action hammer. I would love to run into a revolver like that with the King front sight! Do you have a picture of the top of the rear sight?
