Use to do that at Mountain Man Ronyvoo's as a continuation of the tradition on the 4th of July.

You get a real bang out of it.
 
I don't know what brand anvils he has that has the cavity in the base for the powder, but all of mine are flat across the bottom. Sure do like his collection though.
If anyone has one with the cavity come on over and we will set my 340 lb anvil, out of the Pullman Standard shop, on top of it. I'll supply the powder.

"WE" will set my 340 lb. anvil. I would like to see you set it anywhere but "we" wouldn't touch it. 340 lbs. sound heavy. Larry:D

I have got soft also. When I move it nowadays I use a chain and the tractor frontend loader.

This shameful display of reckless disregard for public safety is why we need stricter anvil control, now!
