Any advice?

I purchased the M&P 9mm a few days ago, and ive noticed that whenever I insert my magazine, if I press it in harder, the slide goes ahead and slams forward. Haven't had any problems feeding when it does this, i just want to make sure it isnt a flaw in my gun. Ive never really had a gun release the slide on its own after inserting the mag. Oh, it doesnt do it if I insert it softer, like when Im just at the range. But I am interested in shooting IDPA, and I dont want my gun having a negligent discharge because of the slide releasing, when I am reloading faster.

Not sure if it was on this Fourm or a different one but what I remember reading it is normal some people actually like it that way and also somewhere in the owners manual they mention that. Sorry I couldn't be of more help

It's been mentioned here several times that this happens. I don't think it was designed to do this, but it does. I have never seen this with my gun because whenever I insert the mag, the slide is always forward. Then I rack it. GARY

Read the manual. It's in the section that talks about loading your gun.
