Any appendix holsters for the Shield?

Does anyone have a good recommendation for an appendix holster for a Shield? I used to use a mic holster for a Glock 19 but they crack, so now I'm looking for something more substantial for my S&W. Please only make recommendations about an appendix-style holster you actually use. Thanks!

If you're going to carry a Shield in appendix carry position, do yourself (and your privates) a huge favor: carry only a Shield WITH A THUMB SAFETY and USE THE SAFETY. Either that or carry it with no round in the chamber.

Carry a chambered round in a Shield with no external safety (or ANY short-stroke striker-fired pistol) in that position at your own, considerable risk.

If you've prevously been doing this with a Glock and a chambered round, consider yourself lucky...whether your (very painful) downfall comes to pass as a result of an errant jacket drawstring, shirt button or a finger, luck tends to run out...

It's the same as carrying a gun in any position.

Carrying without a round in the chamber is carrying an unloaded gun... it's pointless.

Not having a negligent discharge while holstering a gun is not luck. It's building strong habits out of safety and paying attention.

Just fyi and I am not seriously suggesting you do this but I am - I am using the Galco Walkabout I used for my G23 ( same dimensions as G19) and appendix carry the Shield - initially it slid right in real snug, but now its like the holster was made for it (a week to to two later).

The Walkabout is the same holster as the Sto N Go but with an added flap of leather to form a magazine carrier pouch. Handy! Obviously it was spaced for a Glock mag but we must be utilitarian in these things. I had literally replaced this holster by getting an Alien gear two weeks prior but decided I needed the Shield ... all this I say to you because the Galco isnt expensive. Im sure you might find one for the Shield specific... I am looking at the King Tuk IWB -75 or so full pop msrp but 57 discounted,

Good luck!

I'd recommend Garrett Industries. Great product, great CS, great people.

As for the AIWB or not, it's the never ending argument. As with all weapons handling, but especially for AIWB, I'd recommend a set of 'rituals' that you do every single time to manage the serious risks of having an AD/ND/UD (whatever the newest term for the same thing is).

I use a Remora.

In that position it works very well for me.
Comfortable and no slip. Easy on and off.
Your results may very. :)

FOXX, Bladetech Nano (more versatile because it's canted) or Klipt (specific for AIWB), CompTac, Crossbreed and generally any Kydex holster maker will have an AIWB.

I use the Remora black sticky textured. Looks like textured leather. Got the leather lined with sweat shield. No belt clip but the sticky texture holds it firmly. Tried jumping, turning, bending, etc and it stays inplace. No clip allows ez adjust to sit.
Also have several Remora holsters for my BG380 for pocket carry.
Also for Glock 42 pocket.
Check out their utube vid.

Motorsporting, like I said, I'm not looking for just any IWB holster, I'm ONLY looking for something you've personally used and recommend for the shield. Thanks though.

I went with the Blackhawk tuckable holster (IWB).
Works great for me.

I also use the remora. I carry up front and love how you can easily reposition it during the day.

I started with a Blade-Tech Revolution. Minimalistic but the gun digs into me some. I now use a Celtic holster. A kydex-leather hybrid with a belt clip. Easy to put on and take off, especially in a vehicle. I liked the placement of the clip over the gun, less bulk compaired to those with it off to the side. Plus it can be canted or worn *** if needed.

I've been using a Galco Tuck, single clip AIWB holster in leather....

It fits the Shield nicely and rides very low for a good concealment position.

I have to say that I find having no "backing" between the back of the slide and my skin causes slight abrasion to the lower belly regions as they say....
Not bad but no perfect either.

Also, the leather on the Galco is fairly stiff on top BUT it squishes closed about half way and causes me a bit of a "drill" getting re-holstered .

I have ordered a Hidden Hybrid and we'll see if I like that one better . I would prefer a holster that will work relatively well for appendix carry but ALSO will fit me well with good support and retention for OWB carry which I often do when out in the deserts on my mosickle. I HOPE the Hidden Hybrid will fill the bill, as it seems to be a well designed and built holster for just this type of use.

I'm " OK " with the Galco for AIWB, but it is not perfect IMHO.

I use Comp-Tac's IWB holster. Great, but pricey. I cut off some of
the leather on the bottom and also shortened both belt clips.
All in all, I've found their holsters tops.
I'll likely buy their Minotaur Gladiator (OWB) for cooler wear hear
in the Tucson area.

I knew a couple of sharp cops that use and advocate Dale Fricke's AIWB designs. I'm not in a situation where that works for me, but I did buy a Nehemiah IWB, and it has been excellent.

AIWB is a concept that can work well, but it requires a heightened amount of attention to what one is doing. Any ND is a bad thing, but an ND in that position has a real risk of hitting major blood vessels and/or your goodies, which would be a VERY bad thing.

I bought a multi holsters IWB kydex the other day and appendix carry the no safety shield with a round in the chamber and feel totally comfortable doing so. I'm not saying I'll never have an accident cause it'll jinx me but you have to be a certain kind of special to discharge while holstering. Shield triggers are pretty heavy and have a safety built in where you really have to purposely pull it. I'd also have to be a sharp shooter to hit my junk lol.

Absolutely spot on. I just got my Shield about a month ago and I also picked up the same Galco AIWB holster. I like it enough but the gun irritates the skin where it the gun is not covered. I had every intention of getting something else but the more I wear it the less I notice the irritation.

I got a Hidden Hybrid a couple weeks ago to see if it worked out any better for CCW than the Galco... and if it would work well for OWB like in range / competition shooting.

I LIKE the Hidden Hybrid. Very MUCH!

It is very comfortable although it SEEMS to be a LOT of leather and very thick kydex. I've got it set up real nicely now and it is my EDC choice... AND it does indeed work VERY nice OWB for at the range. Good support and retention, good adjustability, excellent draw and re-holster capability compared with the Galco. The Galco will for sure fit OK for AIWB mode, but the soft leather "pouch" is just not as easy to "operate" as the thick fitted kydex AND of course is never going to be as supported and secure as with the HHH. I don't DISLIKE the Galco, but I like the HHH MO BEDDA.

The HHH holster is very well made and works with the Shield perfectly. I have to say that it is the first one I've tried that I indeed "forget" that I am carrying. I give this one 4 stars and it was delivered in 5 days from order.

I've got a KingTuk, my buddy uses the HH, he likes it very much. They are very similar other than the HH having slots to convert to OWB, I guess. I'm on the fence with the KT - in fact just picked up a N82 Pro which is a bit lower profile, ie single clip, and has more backing against the grip, which may make it more comfortable.

My issue with IWB's stems from lack of "posterior", which causes issues with any belt mounted hostler, Inside or Outside. Seems like my belt (and thus holster) moves more than it should when drawing, so the holster kind of comes up with the gun...it eventually releases, but it's a bit unnerving.

I may try a pocket holster, I just hate filling up my holster box unnecessarily :(.

I'm betting you're not wearing a gunbelt. Seems the right belt will solve your problems.

Actually I'm wearing a Blade Tech Looper, which is a kydex reinforced gun belt. Now, maybe I just need a better belt ;). They are 1.5" but seem... narrower, but it just may be to my eye. Seems like most holsters are setup for 1 3/4" belts, so maybe I just need to try one of those.
