I've owned three Dan Wesson 22 revolvers that I sold for various reason's, mostly because I'd see something else I wanted more. Good guns, accurate as could be, but a little heavy to lug around in a holster. Those little 22 holes leave a lot of steel behind.
I'd never owned one of their centerfire ones though, until a month or so ago. I saw one at my LGS, with a four inch, half underlug barrel/shroud. The exact type of barrel setup I like. It looked and felt pretty much like new. They wanted about $700.00 for it. I asked if they could do better, they came back with $650. That was good enough. I felt like I'd "won."
I've had it out a time or two. It really likes 38 wadcutters, but then most 38/357's like wadcutters, so that's no surprise. Next time I'll try some magnums just for grins and giggles, but I mostly shoot wadcutters these days. Paper targets don't take a lot of killing. The trigger is very much like the one on my 2020 Pythons, or very good.
The front cylinder latch has never bothered me, but then I only shoot it at the range. I could see where someone who was used to either the push/pull type cylinder latches might not care for it if the revolver was being used for serious purposes.
I ordered a barrel wrench, a cylinder gap gauge, and a set of Allen wrenches for it from some online place. I'll never change the barrel but will pull it from time to time for cleaning. I like my revolvers with 4" (ish) barrels, and don't care for longer or shorter these days. They just look and feel "right."
