I own a 622 purchased NIB, a used 2206 in excellent condition. I am a fan of .22's in general but love a good .22 pistol or revolver. This family, to me, is one of the best produced. The 622 is so light it reminds one of a toy, the 2206 is just the opposite. Mine are durable and reliable. I carry the 622 when I wade the creek fishing for small mouth in case I encounter Moby Bass; seriously it is not a burden to carry and 3 mags give 30 rounds. I switched the plastic grips on the 2206 for the wooden ones on the 622 and it works better to me. I hope to find a nice 422 in the near future to add to the family.

I have owned nine of this series of handguns. I only have a pair of 622's and a 2206 left, all 4.5" barrel, FS with plastic stocks.

Here is a photo showing my pair of 622's, my sons's brushed nickel 2214, and long gone 2206 6" and 422 both with adjustable sights.

I had a 422 many years ago - a special gift for my daughter that never got delivered thanks to her mother so I traded it for a nickel plated 2" Model 15. The M15 was stolen (long story for other threads wherein it has been told). I do like .22s but I mostly like the "fighting" .22s, not the "target" .22s, assuming any .22 can qualify as a fighting gun. Personally, I think they can qualify but I still have not started carrying one although that might change.

"Fighting" .22s include guns such as the Beretta M70, Walther P-22, and Walther PPK/S .22. I guess the SIG Mosquito fits in there, too. That's just pistols. The Beretta Model 21 fits, too - and Beretta is supposed to be making them again soon. In revolvers there are additional J-frame type choices.

Again, I haven't given up .38s, 9mms, etc., for .22s but they do have a place.

For real target shooting there are a whole lot of better .22s than the ones I listed for fighting, the 422 being one example, and almost any Ruger clearly being another.

What a family photo! I agree to those who said it, Smith should bring them back, not tweeking required!

I remember when S&W first released these pistols and I found them somewhat hideous to look at. When I was finally in the financial position to purchase my first semi-auto .22 handgun, I went with the Ruger KMK-512 with no regrets. A buddy of mine bought a 422, I thought it was a very nice shooter. That would have been 1994.

These days, he hardly has much chance to shoot, but still loves his 422. I shoot a LOT and I have many rimfire pistols, and still love my bull barrel Mark II the most.

I did snag a used 2206 a few months back and so far, it's been a fantastic shooter that I enjoy very, very much. And I am very sorry to say and hope I don't offend... it surely must be one of the homliest handguns that I own.

I had been looking for a small carry 22 and my search always brought me back to the Phoenix Arms 22. I was ready to pull the trigger when I came across a local 2214 for sale. Did some research on it and decided to buy it. It's a barely fired beauty which I paid $300 for it. Recently took it out to the range and it's a nice shooter. Even though it's not a target pistol, I'm surprised how accurate it is @ 12 yards. As with many 22's, just a fun gun to shoot.

I bought a 4.5" 2206 when they first came out in the early 90's, great shooter that has run flawlessly for over 20 years. The heavier weight and 3 dot sights make it a good companion for the 3rd generation center fire pistols...

S&W 422

Here is a picture of my S&W 422. It is ideally suited for a nice .22 caliber suppressor. The only sound is the noise made by the action cycling and the plop of the bullet when it hits the dirt berm.

I've had this one a few years and it's been a good shooter.

I picked up a confiscated 6" 422 from the local cop shop last week for the main purpose of getting it suppressed (plus I did not actually own a 22lr handgun).

I'm looking forward to teaching the kids with it. I figure shooting suppressed will make the wife want to try shooting as well since she has a bad aversion to the noise.

S&W 422 with Gemtech Outback

Glad to see some 422 series. I bought this new, at my LGS years ago. It is light, supremely reliable, and functions perfectly with .22 sub-sonic. I am assuming because the bolt etc. is so light.I do not like the trigger, but..........
The suppressor adapter does not fit flush, but was the only one I could find on GB years ago.

I have a nice 4.5 inch 422 with wood grips and adjustable sights but have not shot it in a while. It is a good running semi auto and I like this family of pistols also. I bought a new M63-5 .22 revolver and the 422 sits now. The M 63 is easier for my wife to use.

I'm a big fan of these guns, shame that S&W quit making them. The new 22 series guns don't hold a candle to the 422/622.

Anyone find a decent holster for these? Nylon would be fine, but I haven't found anything that fits them.

Have both a 6" 422, that has a suppressor adapter, and a 6" 622 that is bone stock. As has been said 100% reliable guns.

One of those that S&W should have never dropped but if more people had appreciated them when they were being made they still would be made...

I've also owned two of the fixed sight version and sorry to say they didn't shoot anywhere near POA... oth of mine have the adjustable sights..

I just acquired a 422 4.5" after trying to "win" one on GB. Now I need a good OWB holster for it. Suggestions please? P.S. Would be interested in purchasing another if anyone wants to part with one.

I had a 6" 422 with wood grips and adjustable sights that I bought new in 1987 or '88. It was stolen when my house was broken into in 1990. I still have the box and an extra mag. I've always wanted to replace it with another just like it but I just haven't yet.
One day...

Just saw a 6" fixed with some wear at the LGS here. $299 asking price. From my experience, they might deal on that some. If interested, pm me a phone and I can send a not very detailed photo and contact info for the store. I have nothing to do with the store or the gun, I'm just a fan myself and happened to see it.
