Any favorite loads for 625?

I just measured my chambers. All six of them measured .4525" Does this give anyone any insight or can anyone suggest a bullet size based on this measurement?

A .452" sized bullet, should be a light push through (just right) in .4525" throats.

I load a 200LSWC-BB at .452" from Dardas, over 5.0 grains of TiteGroup - w/ WWLP, out of my plain vanilla 625-8. .469" taper crimp. Pretty much one ragged hole at just under 20 yards.

The Dardas bullets are extremely uniform, & near as I can tell, about 18BHN. You might want to check them out.

With a softer (12BHN) 200LSWC / .452", I get similar accuracy w/ 4.2 grains TiteGroup.

Hope this helps!

BTW, if you give up on the 625PC, you might want to give me a shout. Always looking for a new challange... ;=]

My favorite loads

230gr Billy Bullets moly coated round nose over 3.8gr Clays or 3.8gr Vithavouri N-310.

200gr Bear Creek moly coated round nose hollow base over 5.2 gr American Select.

I've used both loads in USPSA Revolver competition.

Fed Large Pistol primers used in all loads.

My 4" 625 lives on lead bullets. If the throats are 0.452", you are probably good to go w/ that dia & a bullet not too hard. BTW, if you didn't use a pin gae, you probably are not accurate on your measurements of the cyl throats. There is a front & back to each throat.

Found a great load and got some better grips!

I found a great load for my 625 this weekend! Hornady 230g TMJ over 4.7g Bullseye.

I was having some accuracy issues with the gun earlier. When I called S&W, they insisted that I send it in for evaluation and repair. I sent it in, and it was returned 8 days later. The paperwork said that they re-cut the forcing cone. (Originally, it wouldn't evn group onto a 8-1/2" x 11" paper target, so I bought some 12" x 18" targets.) The folks at S&W did a fantastic job on my pistol and turned it around superfast. My hat's off to them!

I couldn't resist shooting some pix of the 625's new found abilities. My buddy bought me a really nice set of combat grips to replace the red, white, and blue originals. The new ones don't hurt my hands, and look a whole lot better!

I snapped a few pix of some of the other guns we had out today. It was a great day to shoot. All of these shots were at 25 yards resting on the corner of my buddy's pickup truck.

Very good, Rawhyde!

My M625JM is as accurate as I can be! ;)

My favorite competition load for it or any other 45ACP I own is the same as yours, the only difference is I use Berry or Ranier plated bullets with it.

That 4.7gr load is no wimp either. Comes out of my 4" tube right at 800fps, a full power 230gr load for sure.

Here is a picture of that load after shooting it out of my PT1911 in a gallery PPC league I used to shoot in:

Good enough to win that night! ;)
