Just wondering. Haven't had too many (more than normal break-in anyway),so far.

Now and then I find ammo that has good brass for reloading but the bullets aren't high on my "first choice" list for shooting beyond plinking and break-in.

I shot some Remington soft points yesterday with no issues at all. Rifle has maybe 40-50 rounds out of it so far. Not doing much shooting with it untill I get the free float hand guard on it.

No, and I think that has more to do with the shorter overall length of the SP rounds. Zero problems with Remington and Federal in different weights.

Thanks guys. I was keeping a close eye on the AOL figuring that whould be where the FTF problem might orginate if there were to be any. Found some "reasonable" (what's reasonable priced now-a-days :) ) for 308 ??? Going through break-in I'm not real picky about ammo, but I hate waisting reloads.

One of the other first things I always do is pollish the feed ramps and check for rough spots when breaking in a new one. That's one nice thing about SP's. You can eject the live round and see if there are any scratch marks in the lead tip. :)

Actually, I blame OAL for FTE's in my rifle. Was loading Hornady 150 FMJBT to 2.780" OAL but had to go back to 2.735" and that seems to have eliminated the problem. I hear M1A's like the longer OAL but my M&P 10 sure doesn't. Good luck!

When I first read this post, my reaction was that I couldnt see why 2.780 should be a problem. It's well under magazine length.

However, since I had recently loaded a batch of ammo with this bullet, I decided to review my data and found that I had loaded them to 2.700. That seems a little on the short side, but it is the recommended OAL as given in the Hornady manual. At this depth, the cannelure is about where it should be. I gave them a light crimp with the Lee FCD and the rounds fed with no issues at all.

It should be noted that this bullet has a secant ogive design. Conventional wisdom states that this design (vs. tangent ogive) makes the bullet more sensitive to seating depth. Good accuracy depends on finding the "sweet spot" for the OAL.

Since my intention for this bullet is close quarters shooting competition, I'm sure most any OAL will produce adequate performance for my needs.

I haven't had any problems thru about 260 rounds. However, I'm loading nothing but Hornady bullets to the OAL given in the Hornady manual. I've run less that two boxes of factory loads thru mine so far.

The ability to feed is more important than accuracy.........

The ammo company has it pretty well figured out on what will work with the different types of bullets they load.

Some ammo is loaded really "Short" for my liking but you just have to live with it. A little bullet "Jump" is better than none !!

None here using Winchester super x.

I fired 101 (the one killed a nice doe) rounds of Winchester 150 grain Power Point with no failures to feed and no accuracy issues. I cleaned and oiled before the shooting started. Changed out the furniture to Magpul: STR, MIAD, and MOE. Removed the flash hider in favor of a thread protector. Nothing but Joy.

Mine eats everything. I loaded a mag up the other day with a mix of tula, wolf, Hornady white tail, fed m80 & perfecta(wally world). She asked for seconds. So far I haven't found anything she won't eat.
