I'm seeking information on potential value of a set of very nice old walnut 'target stocks'.

Beautiful condition, mounted on a S&W m17-4.

Trying to get link for more information, or establish value of grips prior to putting them up for sale.

Can post photograph tomorrow if needed.

I thought Fitz grips were just plastic pseudo-stag.

Yes, you'll probably need photos.

If they're in great shape, they would probably bring $75-$100 on an auction site. I feel they're underappreciated and the ones I've seen are as good or better than Herrett's work.

I've got a really crisp set in my stash for a slant grip High Standard. They have a thumbrest, a trigger finger groove, a palm flare and are nicely checkered. They're easy to identify, since "Fitz" is neatly stamped or routed into the butt.

Fitz had a variety of lines. I gather the solid wood, nicely checkered grip with 'Fitz' engraved in the bottom bulge, was his upper end.

I've got to figure out how to post non-hosted images here. If anyone know please advise.

s&wchad: yours sounds like the same style for an HS rather than S&W. I've had these on my 17-4 for years but now find my grandson's hand is simply too small to fit them well.

M657,
If you have a minute, post photos of your grips in this thread.

Here are some photos of mine.
