Tyler T-Grips and the Oklahoma Attorney General

Some of the posts may be too wordy and some may be from keyboard gangsters trying to be legal eagles here.
I also agree that there may be posers comporting themselves as attorneys or some may be attorneys who could be reluctant to say so, I don't blame the latter.
What is unacceptable is any seller requiring unsecured prepayment with no timeline for delivery of the item, the ghosting aspect further increases the angst.

Having vintage grip adapters from Pachmayer, S&W and Tyler IMO the best of the lot are the Tyler. Seeing in recent years they were very difficult to purchase new I can understand the $100 price tag for the vintage examples that would arrive within a week. After all these years the Tyler are still the best solution for certain revolvers, situations and shooters hand sizes. Hopefully a company like Pachmayer will purchase the Tyler name and rights to mfg the grip adapters again.

Same here. I heard the owner died and the heirs don't care about anything. I wrote it off.
The owner died several years ago. And was not involved in day to day operations for a time before that. The new owners (presumably heirs) did not just take over. They ran it for awhile. I even exchanged text with one of them. They (I seem to remember it being a female) asked me to send photos of my T Grips after I complimented them on their products. I have 7-8 of them and several trigger shoes on various guns. This ghosting of people came on slow about 24-36 months ago. It's as if they simply lost interest.

I really do like my T's...

BUT.. I am not gonna pay $100 for a set.. ever.
Beautiful guns defsmith. I've been waiting 18 months for a bronze T Grips for my 3" 629. Id actually forget about for stretches of time. I believe it was $89 but not positive. While reading and replying to this thread yesterday I came to the realization I was screwed. I found a NOS bronze T grip for N frame online. After shipping and tax it was $204. Some may laugh at that. But in the not to distant future that'll be the norm. You want what you want. When I bought the RB 3" 629 I invisioned Grasshorn grips and Bronze T grip. I got the grips and after 2 yrs I should have the Tyler Saturday or next Tuesday.

There are alternatives. Robertson Trading Post has them in aluminum, no black and they ship within a day or two. I had to dress the inside edges with some fine sandpaper but other than that, I think that they are a great alternative until Tyler gets its act together.
They also sell the same for K-L Frames.
Robertson Trading Post is "Trustworthy!" At least they have been with me.....

I'm laughing because of you expecting the Tyler T-grips now that you bought some..... I'm laughing at me too because that's something I would have said! Look at the bright side, you might be able to sell them again!

If they are indeed out of business. I wouldn't be suprised if someone bought the rights to the product and all the tooling. Chief38 and GypsmJim both have engineering and manufacturing experience. They should hop on a plane to Oklahoma. I'm in as a ground floor investor. " Lets Make T Grips Great Again"
Meanwhile.... Back at the ranch..... There's still some of us who are still waiting for Tyler T-Grips that were 'PAID IN FULL." I'd prefer having the T-grips than the money I have lost..... All I know is that no matter what happens "down here," one day, we will ALL be called before The Throne of GOD ALMIGHTY! Don't ever forget that!

Not sure I understand your post. I bought the T Grip (paid for) in Feb 2024. I realize I'm not getting it. The one I just bought ( and admittedly overpaid for) online was from a private seller. I already have shipping confirmation and tracking number. So yeah I fully expect it to here Tuesday.

So hope people are happy.

And when they get convicted of fraud let me know and I may change my viewpoint. Bad business running....sure.
Well, I guess my answer to that question would be: Did Tyler's return all of the checks they immediately cashed and have been holding for 24 months or did they just keep the money?

Beats me. When you find out let me know.

Heck, I don't even know what happened to them but they appear to be gone.
The only way I'll find out is on here because there's two things I wouldn't have done in the first place:

1) Buy Tyler T grips with a known biblical wait length for shipment
2) Not immediately file a "stop payment" on my check when they wouldn't answer the phone or emails for weeks on end,

Melvin, in retrospect you are absolutely correct on both points. BUT it was just a given that they do business this way. The last one I bought and received took 4 months. I guess no good deed goes unpunished. You give someone the benefit of the doubt and this is what you get. 😥

Maybe when you get there, God will hand you your T-Grips. I doubt you'll see them before then!

I've been looking for a bronze/gold one for my newer Python. One came up with my eBay alerts the other day...$250

Glad I have quite a few of the originals. I wasn't super impressed with my Robertson Trading K frame example...the fit was a little off and it seemed like they only finished it to about 80% of what I've seen on Tyler T-Grips.

Hi friends,

I ordered some T-Grips back in Feb 2024. No response from the company to my inquiries and no refund after asking for a refund.

As a result, I recently filed a complaint with the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office about Tyler T-Grips. My complaint is pending and we are waiting for a response from Tyler T-Grips.

The Oklahoma Attorney General's Office indicated to me that they have not received a sufficient number of consumer complaints to conclude that there is a "pattern" of bad conduct, and they indicated that the only way to establish a pattern of bad conduct is for the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office to receive multiple complaints.

So, if you have been waiting a long time, or have asked for a refund with no response, etc. I suggest you fill out the simple form linked below and mail it to the address at the bottom of the second page of the complaint form. The more people that complain the more likely the Oklahoma Attorney General will do something.

Here is a link to the form, which takes a few minutes to fill out. The OK AG's office responded to my complaint in less than 2 weeks, so they are pretty efficient.

You do not have to suffer in silence or lose your money. There is no charge to file a complaint.

So, what is the AG saying now? It has been nearly 3 months.
As I posted above, I frequented the actual store when Melvin was alive and even had him make custom leather for me. But I have not seen him this century, think he died 25 years or so ago.

As many have stated a guy named Brian Mathews, created a totally new corporation and carried on the manufacturing of the T Grips and other products. Here is his incorporation data.

The volume of orders overwhelmed this guy and there was a fire or tornado that caused additional delays. Not sure which maybe both, I have read. The website then said this.

"""" We understand if you are unable to wait for your order and w refund please follow the instructions above. As to exact time frames, we do not always know exactly when the ebb and flow and influx of orders may be coming. Therefore, our production often swells, slowing times for completion, so please be prepared for unannounced delays in shipping. Otherwise, anyone that has ordered, your items will be coming, hang in there the maker extends his personal guaranty in this regard . We are sure you will enjoy your T-Grips and Trigger Shoes, we hope to see you back soon!""""

And then this:

"""""
  • Please notify us via TEXT MESSAGE or through US mail to the following address for all order cancelations/refund requests: TOMAHAWK GRIPS PO BOX 492, NEWALLA, OK 74857. Please take note, it is mandatory that simple civility and common courtesy be maintained at all times. We have a zero tolerance policy for any threats, profanities or mean hateful speech towards any employees. If you choose this path you will be banned from ordering in the future, per the maker. Thank you.

A search of the corporation shows it was established in 2014, and appears to have been dissolved and no longer exists.

The address listed is likely Brian's home at the time. Harrah is the nearest city to the unincorporated area known as Newalla. There is nothing I could find to show the year it folded.

Newalla is only 4-5 streets long as mentioned above, just a tiny neighborhood. And it did experience major damage in April 2024.

The reports indicated that Brian Mathews was a nephew to Melvin Tyler, others said he was a son in law.

And for what it is worth, Mr. Mathews has been sued before, but the process server never could find him to get him served.

1756334395673.webp---------------------------------------------

A name search has indicated that perhaps he has moved out of the area. It is also important to note that other than the one case, he has not been sued and has no criminal record. Nothing is pending.

So, if the AG is telling anyone they have filed something civil or criminal, it is not showing up. Keep in mind, there is no such thing as a company called Melvin Tyler.

And by the terms of the contract/ordering form people have agreed to an unlimited time frame in which to get their orders. They have 2 options. To request a refund or to sue him in small claims court.

There is no mail fraud or similar remedy available, because the cost is considered trivial, no US attorney is likely to prosecute.

Also, most people understand when they order across a state line, that there is always risk, their only option in a civil case is to go where the product is and to sue the company.

And that is where this problem probably is.

Last, I do not have access to bankruptcy filings. You must pay a big fee for those records on line. And if he filed bankruptcy that federal case prevents the AG of a state from taking any action.

So, anybody have any news of recent activity? I would sure not order from him. There is no patent that applies and anyone can make these, just must not be much demand.
