I have loaded a bit in my time from 22/250 to 45/70,but never one of these. Just got a Mod 71 Browning so I have to try it out.Just wondering if there is anything that I should be looking out for ?

You should buy a Lee Factory Crimp Die for it. My RCBS crimp die didn't put an adequate crimp on the rounds I loaded.

Well, there isn't a lot of bullet selection, that's for certain from the well known commercial companies:
#3410 Hornady 200gr. RN
#34810 Barnes originals 250gr. FNSP
#34805 Barnes originals 220gr. FNSP
#348 Woodleigh 250gr. FNSP

There are other smaller bullet makers that make heavy constructed bullets, and I am certain that a good mould for casting can be suggested. Yes, a very heavy crimp is mandatory for full loads.

I have never loaded any, but I have sized and prepared 348 cases for loading, and I had no problems whatsoever doing this for a friend that is a .348 fanatic.

I bet some fellers from up north will chime in.

Bill,
I loaded for an original Winchester Model 71 using the normal RCBS die set. For all the lever guns you have to full length size the case and check to see that the case length does not go over maximjum. You ould be advised to seat and crimp in separate operations - seating and crimping in the same step can lead to loose crimps ot buckled cases.

To Andy Griffith & TSQUARED; Thanks guys. That crimping was one of the things I had read about, and it had me a little concerned. That Lee crimp die sounds like something I should look into.

Bill,
I never use the Lee actory crimp die. In my opinion it's an axcuse for not paying attention to what one is doing. I have made up thousands of rifle rounds and never had a problem with function. I always seated and crimped in separate operations which saves a lot of hassle.
