Any Lego Enthusiasts Here?

This is the game I've reverted to. ;)

My 10 yr old grandson loves lego kits and he builds them very fast. For his bday in September, I got him the volvo articulating 6 wheel off-road dump truck. Took him about 5 weeks to build (with a 2 week hiatus while grounded). He got a little help from his electrical engr dad, bUt he did most of it alone. Dad helped get the app going. It’s an amazing kit w about 2500 pieces. He’s phenomenal with legos. I had legos as a kid but nothing like this.

I grew up in the 50's wanting an erector set. Looking back on it, I think I figured out why I never got one. My parents bought me a chemistry set one year, and an electronics set another year, but I believe they were afraid of my mechanical abilitie and were scared I'd build something that would kill us all! Kind of funny when you consider how much mayhem some kids could do fooling around with chemicals or electricity but my folks were concerned about killer robots or something. :D
IIRC, when I was about 12 years old, one of my friends got one of the fancy chemistry sets. One of the first things we made was gun powder!

When I was little I always had a little Lego jeep in my jean jacket pocket.

2 bricks and 2 sets of wheels. But it went everywhere.

I miss my Legos. I had a very large bin with both mine and my 2 older brothers Legos so 1980s to mid 90s sets. Maybe 50k pieces give or take a few thousand.

Well the bin was in a storage unit my oldest brother was renting, and he just stopped paying and didn't tell anyone then they were gone. Along with most of my childhood possessions.

I had a large box full of Lego blocks in different sizes (mid 70s), no fancy specialty locks. Spent countless hours making things purely from my imagination. Although cool, the pre designed Lego contraptions with instructions don’t leave much to the imagination. Can you still get the generic sets?

The D11 rocks! Legos for big boys!

I have never ran a dozer that would spin one cat backwards and one
forward. That is usually a skid steer or excavator.
Interesting - I thought all tracked vehicles operated that way - otherwise one side is dragging when turning sharply.

I went on the site that offered the B-17, it was sold out. I looked at the other stuff they offer, it was amazing. They offer Lego men for every military conflict, and the weapons to match. Not just generic guns, but reasonable replicas of all sorts of weapons. You can equip your Lego people with a 1903’s, Garands, 1911’s, Arisaka’s, even a Chauchat. It’s a childhood dream come true. They even offer a snub nose revolver.

Am I to old to ask for Lego’s for Christmas?

as a kid, I used an Erector set, along with legos, to build a massive car parking garage, with car lift using the erector set motorized winch.

I had no idea they have construction equipment sets. my partner LOVES legos, and her grandfather owned a gravel pit when she was young. We just might be getting that Cat.
