I have very old marbles both clay and glass. I see on the internet some these can be pretty valuable. Actually to values I can't imagine.

When I was much younger I had a lot of marbles, then I got a powerful slingshot.

I actually did lose them. When we moved to Ohio in 1966 I had a gallon paint can full of nice marbles. The moving company lost them and so I had to start over.
I eventually gave them to my little brother who used them as sling shot fodder against his little green army men.
I had a great marble collection in grade school.
In fact, I got my dad's marbles (from circa 1928) that my grandma had kept. She kept everything. LOL
I was the envy of the recess, big time marble gamblers. We played for keeps!
But, marbles were soon outlawed at that elementary school.
We would carry those marbles in an old sock. Some podunk kid, sitting at his desk, let his sock full of marbles hit the floor in Miss Lanier's 4th grade classroom. Marbles EVERYWHERE during the arithmetic lesson!
It was all over. The end. You caught with a sock full of marbles, you loose them AND get five-licks from old man Johnson during his morning announcements on his PA system.
So much drama! I can still hear the doppler effect of those PA system licks traveling down that empty hall.

I do but, I am a novice. I met a man in York, Nebraska at the marble museum. He had 10's of thousands of marbles. He showed me 2 that he claimed were $5k and $7k. I bought a couple of marbles that were waaaaaaaayyyy less expensive. I have purchases a couple of book and book marked many websites that talk about marbles and am not sure I am any further down the road.
I think the bottom line is what you like you like and damn the price.......unless you are buying and not already possessing.

My HS banned them along with yo-yos and clackers because of both intentional and unintentional injuries.

The arithmetic lesson was kinda assaulted when the old sock with about 150 marbles busted as it hit that concrete floor.
All the marble lovin boys all scrambled on their hands and knees to steal all they could grab.
It was a hoot. Girls and Miss Lanier screaming...
I have a friend who collects. Slight less expensive but just as addictive as Smith and Wessons
I remember having a very large sturdy shoebox full of them in elementary school. I had them in my childhood chest of drawers. Unfortunately, when I left for college, some of my stuff was stored in the attic of a family business. When the business was sold, I was given the opportunity to retrieve my stuff, but was too busy, to even check what I was letting go.
It’s called young stupidity!! I wish I had taken the time to get my stuff. I missed the marbles and strangely a collection of the original USFL football team hats.

I have my late mother's and late aunt's marbles.. I tried to figure out if any were valuable, just couldn't get a definitive answer. Guess I need to head to York Nebraska... it's actually not too far..

I've got a jar full of these types. Some are plain or colored glass with tiny bubbles inside, some are glazed clay, very irregular in shape and of different sizes and colors, some are what I believe are earthenware, either plain or striped, also irregular shaped and different sizes and some what we used to call cats eyes. I also have a large cats eye "shooter" and what we used to call a "steely" which I think is a large ball bearing
Are any of them valuable or are they something I should just list on ebay in one lot at a low starting bid and let the collectors go at it ?
