Coin collectors?

Where was the King of Thailand Born?
Lots of Thais didn’t know the answer!
They would say - Bangkok? Chiang Mai? Pattya Beach?
No, actually he was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts!

One of the people I see each week at our Thursday morning breakfast get together has collected many coins over the years. The amount has to be in the multi thousands.


Of course he got this dubious honor because he worked for years as a toll collector on the NY state Thruway.

Yes, the Sacawajea and Presidential dollar coins are available at banks, but it's sort of a catch as catch can situation. It depends on what they get from the mint and what they get from depositors. I sometimes go up to the next town and just make a sweep through all the bank branches there.

It used to be a running gag I had with the manager of the local VFW lounge. I would have supper there on a Friday night and pay for everything plus tips with Golden Dollars. Then the VFW would take the Golden Dollars back to the bank as a deposit. Then I would go to the bank and take out Golden Dollars. Then the next Friday night I would go to the VFW lounge and start the process all over again.
