Any one had the, Master Revolver Action Package done by S&W?

Groo here
I have an M-22 I sent back for the correct sight.
As they paid shipping I also had a Master action job done.
Not as smooth as some of the best smiths but under warranty
and good for a duty gun [ will fire almost anything]

Alex Hamilton in San Antonio, Texas does a good full action job on S&W revolvers. I think he charges somewhere in the $150- 170.00 nieghborhood. Check his website

I had a 625-8 done a few years ago. It was pretty decent, but I'm sure it was not as good as you can get elsewhere. As mentioned before to get the utmost action you have to remove a lock parts and also substantially lighten the hammer. That's just not going to happen at S&W.

Also they barely touched the charge holes, though they did open them just a touch more than they were. This was a JM model that already had it done at the factory. I was expecting more. I have another one now and they would probably have heart failure if they saw the chamfers in this cylinder.

The action was pretty smooth and was probably about as good as can be had leaving the hammer alone and all the lock parts in. As far as the price, it's way overpriced. With the MIM parts it's very easy to get a good smooth action. They are basically just "drop-in" so you just have to polish what's there. Older guns are a whole 'nother matter.

I think Mag-na-port offers high quality gunsmithing services. I had them do some work for me once, and it seemed to be top quality. That was quite a while ago, however. I have not heard anything negative about their work, and was told over the phone by a Ruger rep at the factory that they were very good. wyatte

I too have had GREAT work done at Magna Port...
