I like her, yeah. Enough that I can even tolerate Slim Shady in (very) small doses out of gratitude.

She's one of my dirty secrets along with Abba, GoGos and Banannarama... :D

Hey! Dude! :) I like Abba, Bannanarama and the Go-Go's, too! Especially Belinda Carlisle's singles after she left the Go-Go's.

Who's Slim Shady, though? Is he Dido's guitarist?

Slim shady =Marshall Mathers = Eminem = white rapper. Dido got huge after he sampled one of her songs. I generally loathe & detest hiphop & everything it stands for, but this time... And M&M isn't really all that bad. I actually like a couple of his things.

Oh. I have heard of Eminem. Avoid him and other rap. I concur with your feelings about that and hip-hop. I think that music has actually had a toxic effect on the minds of the current young generation.

I didn't know that he helped Dido's rep. I thought her big break was having her song, "Here With Me" used as the theme music on the, "Roswell" TV show. It seems unlikely to lend itself to rap renditions. Which of her works did he somehow use?

I'm not familiar with her music. My wife likes her, but I dunno: makeup is pretty tame, her hair is a normal color. Obviously she hasn't had her boobs done, and doesn't show much skin. What's she got besides some decent good looks and a nice voice? ;-{>

A unique style.

I like Dido, and Duffy, Loreena McKennitt and Adele. Very good music to relax to.

The things you learn on this site, never heard of her but after listening to a few songs she is GREAT. I guess I'm just not very "with it".

In Dallas, you can hear her occasionally on KVIL (103.7) or on 102.9 on the radio. She isn't on as often as American performers, but she has a strong following. You may also be able to request her music on the oldies station, 98.7, I think it is, the one where Ron Chapman held sway as the lead DJ for so many years after he was transferred from KVIL.

I own all of her CD's. Got hooked after hearing, "White Flag" on the radio. Her unique, low key style and fine voice appeal to me. And some of her songs have a valid message, like, "Life For Rent."

She's a nice change of pace from louder, more grungy performers. I stared in shock at that tattooed lead singer from Maroon 5 when I saw them on the Victoria's Secret fashion show last year. I'd heard them on the radio, but really seeing someone who'd do that to himself or seeing Kid Rock just makes me ill. Lady Gaga is about half comical, so I can sort of tolerate her, and she seems lucid on talk shows. I like her, "On the Edge of Glory." But Dido Armstrong just has a more refined, subtle quality and that beautiful voice was made for the ballads that she writes.

I listen to her, Loreena McKennitt, Enya and the Celtic gals when I just want some calming background music that doesn't jar my senses.

Texas Star,

Thanks for the suggestions, I would have responded sooner but it was such a nice day in DFW that I sent the day outside, really enjoyed the day. Thanks again.
